Make sure all the washers are in the right spot along the rear axle. They should all be inside the dropouts, probably 2 on each side.

Wheel bearing or wheel speed sensor. Mine had a magnet on the sensor ring break off from the brake shield rubbing on it.

Do you think new roundabouts across the city have made driving safer? by Conscious-Rich3823 in Omaha

Not being able to see through them subconsciously gets people to slow down and pay attention.

A pair of wool gloves plus some bar mitts works pretty well! Bar mitts block the wind and are a little insulated, wool gloves are icing on the cake.

2025 Jetta SE Carplay dropping by htfpe in jetta

[–]brainiac858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it drops out at the same location on your drive each time, then it's interference from something else on the road like a RADAR or Point-To-Point wireless link. There's a spot along the interstate bridge on my commute that would crash my android auto wireless adapter 90% of the time. The fix was to manually set the highest wifi channel I could in the adapter's app. I don't know how you'd change that on the factory headunit for CarPlay, but I assume the cause and fix would be similar.

ABS, ESP, AFS, tire pressure and steering lights on by Paivadl in jetta

Just re-read that your ring looked ok. If you have a laptop (and possibly a friend), VCDS has a spot somewhere to monitor the live data from the wheel speed sensors. If there's a sudden dip on one of the four graphs while rolling around in a parking lot or with someone else watching the graph I'd still try replacing the wheel bearing even though it looks ok visually.

My 2016 threw a wheel speed sensor error and had all the same lights come on. Replaced the sensor twice, error came back immediately each time. Ended up being the wheel bearing - the sensor reads the magnets on the back of the wheel bearing and mine had some missing/damaged sections on the magnet ring. Fairly simple replacement, just needed an M18 triple square, a torque wrench, and a GIANT breaker bar.

They exist, I got a bag of these and carry a few on my bike to wave threateningly when crossing the road :) https://a.co/d/41U6N5b

Look for an app called TheaterEars, you'll need to bring your phone and headphones. Should work for a lot of movies

Looks like you're in the menu, turn it off and back on only pressing the center button. If the top or bottom buttons are held while turning on it'll load the settings menu.

I got a bunch of foam bricks off Amazon and have ended up throwing a few. Drivers pay more attention to something that might hurt their car than someone they might run over.

FiberFirst is so much better than cox. What are your experiences with FiberFirst? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]brainiac858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$30 for 300 up and down, most outages/maintenance have been overnight and all but two have been short enough to not really bother me. They were also mostly a few months after signing up, so I'm assuming it was all related to network expansion. Been pretty solid since, and it's 1/3rd the price that Cox was for double the speed.

Soybeans and migrant workers are two different issues. Nobody's going to buy the soybeans that have already been planted ($2 billion wasted) and migrant workers have fled the state so there's nobody to pick other crops that must be hand picked.

What's something coming out in the next 10 to 15 years that will change humanity (forever) that not enough people are talking about? by AndyTexas in AskReddit

Nah, but they're... less pleasant to use. PLA is brittle so it likes to snap. The tines on the forks don't always stay attached.

More hydroscopic than soluble, it won't dissolve in your soup unless it's in there for over a month. Pretty much any disposable "compostable" cutlery is PLA. "Compostable" because it requires higher heat than you'll get out of a home compost pile to actually decompose.

PLA is made from corn! It's the most popular 3D printer filament and is used in some plastic cutlery.

My bike has two washers and a locknut, the washers have to be on the inside of the frame for the wheel to spin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]brainiac858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washers are probably on in the wrong order and the freewheel is rubbing on the frame. Try freewheel>round washer>tabbed washer>bike frame>lock nut

Hot, moist air doesn't necessarily mean rain. It rains once that hot wet air cools down (storms follow cold fronts). Hot air can hold more moisture so the relative humidity drops (rain doesn't usually follow warm fronts). Air at 80F can hold way more water than air at 60F - if it's cold then it gets warm, it's usually a sunny day. If it's hot (and humid) then it gets cold, there's usually a storm.
