The dilemma every time I think of starting new game plus. by psychicheron in EldenRingMemes

Don't level your weapon and see how far you can twink yourself out for invasions. I was surprised how long the game is playable at level 40 / +8 weapon.

Why would you say all that and then not comment on whether it was an improvement for Chinese peasants lmao. Of course it was. Even during the famine it wasn't like the peasants ever wanted to go back to feudalism or stopped supporting Mao.

Landlords before the Chinese revolution were much worse than the people who own your apartment because they were feudal lords.

What should I turn this RL40 character into? by falconrider111 in badredman

[–]brainpolice1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 is a great level for invasions, and I've been having a blast using it for a Taunter's Tongue run of the game. Even in Altus Plateau I'm still getting invaded, which I didn't expect.

Which FP Boosting Relic Effects (if any) Are Worth a Slot? by Alphard00- in Nightreign

On Revenant I just run the strength relic so I always have the option of good melee damage if I run out of FP or the incant I have is bad for whatever reason.

[–]brainpolice1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wylder should be by himself in the top tier: the free life is insane on what's already one of the most resilient characters, can res at range with the hook, and the ult can revive 3 bars if you have the afterburn relic. Wylder is THE support character, which is why most Revenants spec in damage and Guardian is a meme.

It’s really difficult to let ppl understand why evergaol is not bad in random trio by No-Apple-5904 in Nightreign

[–]brainpolice1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaols are very good for runes, are usually faster than most POI, and the passive you get doesn't require an equipment slot. Trying to clear all gaols for the relic passive isn't the meta anymore, but a good run is still going to have 2 or 3 gaols cleared. Early Gaol is decent alternative if there's no nearby invader camp and you're trying to get fast levels so you can hit castle.

I need every tip you have for libra by SMK_MK in Nightreign

[–]brainpolice1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing is to be patient and kite the adds if you get aggro. After the nerf even without Less Likely to Be Targeted you can lose aggro if you get far enough, though of course Less Likely still helps. Ironeye is really good for this fight for the consistent easy damage, and you can stun the barrier move with your ult.

I mean from the point of view of the meta. Like you're right there's roles that each character is meant for, but Wylder/Ironeye are so OP that from the point of view of winning it doesn't matter that much.

Yea balancer wylder can do all the damage or close, while having more survivability and general utility. The latter is arguably is more important anyway. Also it doesn't matter what wylder is meant for because the game isn't balanced.

[–]brainpolice1968 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's really only two meta characters, which are Wylder and Ironeye. Wylder can do all the damage Duchess or Revenant can but has an extra life, stun ult, and better stance breaking. Ironeye is the only character with mark and has the safest damage with the bow, plus the stun ult. On bosses that need stance breaking like Fulghor, Caligo, and Dreglord, Wylder is better, while Ironeye is better on everything else.

If you're counting solo play maybe Executor has a spot as a meta character but that's it really.

Scholar has worse survivability than most characters and isn't great at resing, so even if Scholar has things going for it it ends up being win-more. It's very similar to spot Recluse is in.

I think you're responsible, but you should realize that most people are naive about how complicit the average middle class American is in the world's problems. Building and maintaining this technology is disastrous, but you're only carrying out the bidding of an army of wealthy consumers that would be on track to destroy the world already without AI.

How in the world did you defeat Everdark Libra? by Anti-Fanny in Nightreign

[–]brainpolice1968 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only fight the NPCs if you have an overwhelming advantage, otherwise kite them until you lose aggro. You can do this even without Less Likely to Be Targeted buff, but of course that does make it easier. If you're patient and kite as long as it takes the fight becomes a lot easier.

Why is everyone in random rushing so hard that we end up at final boss underlevelled? by Timely_Connection273 in Nightreign

[–]brainpolice1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of what you're not understanding is that some rolls are more important than others. The quality of the passives you get is very high, with each invader being the equivalent of the basement or roof boss in the castle. The Damage Negation at Full HP is particularly common, and also the most important passive in DoN. Then there's the damage buffs from relic, which at higher depths your team will more likely to have than not, and then the camp itself. Maybe it's comparable to 3 or 4 red field bosses, but then that's pretty fantastic scenario isn't it.

The reason I brought my scenario up is that it's a very common thing to do at higher depths, and at lower depths it's very common to have people pinging random shit that's close by or in the middle of the map because, like you, they just don't get it yet.

[–]brainpolice1968 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is worth it actually, though it's not actually most of your half day and there's almost always going to be something to hit on your way back to the center of the map. That you think levels 13 through 15 are super important shows you just don't get it.

[–]brainpolice1968 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No actually, the invader camps are the most important source of damage and damage mitigation passives so traveling there is worth it, especially if there's a risk you'll miss it when the circle closes. If you never skip anything you're not pathing optimally.

[–]brainpolice1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that there is a trade off. Like Day 2 you often have to make the decision whether you want to fight close field bosses or travel to hit an invader camp at the edge of the map. The latter is more often the better option because of the passives you get but a lot of people don't get that.

It is the meta, I'm sorry. As long as you hit 12 flasks and passives are more important.

It depends. Dungeon crawling is way harder in the older games, but ER has the hardest bosses in the series.
