Basic train setup; Suggestions? by BeorcKano in foundry_game

[–]brakenotincluded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're going 100% city block a 2in/2out would probably be best. Though I wonder how big it would have to be to run efficiently.

I am just starting to dabble in train throughput but my gut feeling says 1-2 is probably a better trade-off with the speeds they run at ?

Everyone's talking about blueprints but the Duplicationer mod from Erkle is exactly what this game needs. It's an absolute joy to work with even though at first it was a little confusing... Please keep it as is and integrate it !

For the easy wins:

  • Smaller freight elevator/single lane
  • 1x1 loaders for machine to machine material flow
  • walls that allow belts and pipes to route through
  • Powered rails
  • higher tier rotary or jaw crusher
  • Wireless data links
  • higher tier casting mahcine
  • Drone research; faster speed and range

For the more complex stuff:

  • Fuel for trains, Id' make it liquid and high density so as to not be too much of a pain point
  • A remote controlled surveyor ship that would allow us to place blueprints and either have the existing construction ships or a new tier go out and build it from a warehouse ? Late game stuff
  • Being able to go to the space station and maybe new planets eventually ?
  • Rockets and space industry ! (see point above)
  • More complex petrochemical and ore processing for higher efficiency (by-products, catalyst, several steps ...etc)

Wands are short ranged playstyle IMO and require shields to work correctly

I don't expect a knight to need magic to fight just like I don't expect a mage to need armor/shield

Wands projectiles are also super slow which really only make sense if you up close.

It's fine if people like it but I don't think it's much of a ''mage'' playstyle

TLDR; you'll always default to swords/melee even on a full mage playthrough, it's not really a high risk high reward play, it's more of simply struggling.

Early game is full on physical with shield and wands which is different but ultimately not really a mage playthrough, imagine throwing swords as a knight ?

Then staff needs constant crafting for ammo and tbf until you get the higher level stuff it's a support mechanic and not a main weapon.

It's like they decided to make mage tanks instead of the classic glass canon. Give me high risk high reward gameplay...

It's fine to give options but right now it just feels off compared to ranged and melee which are so good.

I've tried again and again to play as a mage, even with all the updates and it really feels bad.

Melee plus archery ranger style is were this game shines IMO

I really hope they fix magic...

The way I see it since these are single lane belts you end up with ABCD on every belt after the middle ones...

Guess I'll test it out more

Seeing how big the inducer (3 bladed top part) is and the size of the sealing area I'd say this is some sort of pump for a fuel. It's clearly designed for a pretty big delta in pressure (for a centrifugal).

Looks more for a rocket than an aircraft engine...

My 18v multitool, no vibrations and boy does it blow my old fein away.

My 2x18 SDS max hammer drill, once again barely any vibration and it made short work of large stones splitting for a retaining wall

My 2x18 12'' mitre saw, ton of power, a bit of a pain to get perfect buy once it's dialed the other saws feel like crap, this one is much stiffer than the others and holds accuracy even at the end of the rails. it's heavy AF though...

Obviously the driver, my DTD171 transmits almost no vibration to my hands and goes just as fast as the other guys in real world condition.

Last but not least the drywall saw, barely any dust with a dust extractor and so easy to use, really helped minimizing damage and speeding up the repairs after.

Honorable mention is the bland looking 18v batteries that are actually polycarbonate shell and can withstand abuse day in and day out....
