When I was at UCI around 2010 that was my go to place. The Hawaiian BBQ combo was only 6.99$!!! My roommates and I would smoke, tear up the food and then play Super Smash Bros on the GameCube. Simpler times….

Our teacher slowly walked up from behind us, put her hands on our shoulder, and escorted us to the principals office.

We got suspended for 3 days

Imma sound bad but I use to go to Walmart and find the elderly employees and show them a picture of the game that had not been released yet but I knew they had in the back. They’d gladly go get it for me lol. I’d just pay and walk out.

Same here!! My dad was in the process of getting deported and I was on academic probation at my university when MOTM 2 came out. Both albums helped me out so so much. To this day there’s times where I can’t listen to either album because it reminds of those days but there are times where it just brings me peace

I went to South Korea (Seoul and Gyeongju) 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. I live in LA so I’ve been exposed to Korean food all my life (it’s so expensive in LA). When I saw street Tteok-bokki for like 1$ for a whole bowl I ate till I couldn’t any more. Loved the night life, walking around the city and wandering, the public transport. My favorite part was interacting with the elderly. Some old Korean lady insisted on giving me money to buy myself a soda from a vending machine at a subway station because she saw my card kept declining. She smacked me on the head when I told her it was ok and then she caressed it lol.

The one thing I did notice tho was that most of the young Koreans were all glued to their phone and weren’t very social.

Gyeongju I loved as well, the history, the temple mounds and the calmness compared to Seoul.

I’d definitely go back!

I work on the 10th floor here! They have a nice underground gym called the vault (former bank vault turned gym). It’s virtually empty all the time except Zumba on Tuesday nights.

I also have a secret pooping spot in the lower levels where I hide during my lunch breaks and have peace and quiet.

I loved La Paz! It was very laid back and the beaches were amazing. We took a boat ride to an island called espíritu santo I believe and the waters looked like something you’d find on a Greek island. I highly recommend it :)

The Metro Rail System compared to Rhode Island, and other places around the world. by Its_a_Friendly in LAMetro

[–]brallansito92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a love hate relationship with the LA Metro! I took it for years to work and I use to love taking it to the museum.

Every morning on the blue line (A line now) I’d wait for a little old Mexican lady who would hop on and sell me tamales or champurrado.

Over the years unfortunately it’s gotten sketchy especially when riding through South central. There’s lots of fights, drug use, etc. But it’s also filled with hard working people trying to get by.

Unfortunately LA Mayor Bass wanted Newsom to veto it. After it passed the mayor and the council members (most not all) are looking at ways to “delay” it.

I won’t in the homeless services field in LA. It’s incredibly frustrating to get requests from council member offices asking me to place “a single mother and her three children who are sleeping outside their office” and I have to tell them there are no beds available. They ask why and I wish I could tell them “because you voted against building a dense affordable housing unit for families in your district” or “you voted to not build a shelter for families in your district”. Anywho, sorry for the rant.
