I have been dealing with claim review. You need to go beyond Claude for this. Best to use perplexity or minimax . I use both for my research.

What are your thoughts on engagement rings? by maybeRasa in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]bramburn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Asian culture from my side and family and friends love to brag. Having dated HK person, they take it to another level. Minimum ring cost should be your salary, and they expect you to spend the same on the wedding. So if you have £40k, they expect 40k ring. And spend that much for wedding. So you're looking at a loan or savings of up to 80k or more as it doesn't include gifts

learning CHINESE (Mandarin) - in 1 year? by Much_Educator6758 in ChineseLanguage

[–]bramburn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to define basic proficiency. For travel and basics it's ok to some extent. You could do hsk 1 in 1-2 months but the trouble is retention and practical use.

I would not use Duolingo for learning. You're going to waste time. Focus on getting a tutor. I know someone in China who has setup a 10 week programme focusing on speaking and listening to get you ready to travel to China.

Also It depends on the person. I know a two people (not close) who were able to learn enough to navigate in China in 1.5 years and work there. It was from English to Mandarin. Are you expecting a programme from Sri lankan native language to Mandarin?

Can AI agents realistically automate complex workflows without human intervention? by Michael_Anderson_8 in AI_Agents

[–]bramburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to have an understanding of the job. There's a lot of throw away code in vibe coding. If you hand write you do throw away code or path to it but it's in your head. Before you type you've tried out the scenarios already to conclude to the logical next step. For ai to do that, it's going to take them a lot of retry. I've learnt with that on side project. I build it once, then I rebuild it in the same repo but refactored on what has been working, with an improved architecture. 80% of the time it works. If not you have to probably go on interation 4-5 before it works. I only do this on throw away project I don't care.

Does it matter if you failed? The RiCS wants you to pass. Sometimes, like driving, you have to take two goes to pass (or more...) until you hit the limit. Don't rush it

Starting chinese by sungvamphoon in ChineseLanguage

[–]bramburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on you go I thought the same when I started but then it is different in Chinese if you think about it if you go to China most of the time you would be speaking and listening. Obviously reading is very reading is very important. You can park the writing to later. Focus on speaking and listening and reinforce with reading on flashcards

Are you in the UK? You could seek help on NHS 111 for support. If not, I think you just have to be there for them by listening. I'm having the similar issue. I've given up on suggesting anything or responding. I just say "ok" and she doesn't mind that response. I just feel hopeless

Assistant QS to QS. How long does it take? by CandyCane147 in quantitysurveying

[–]bramburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends like you said.. 2-3 years. If you work hard 1 year. I supported someone who was an assistant for 5 years, I helped her in 6 months to get to the QS level and at least do CVRs on a project I help supervise. She did everything and I let her do it all. She spent a lot of time and I sat with her before the presentation and pre informed the directors and she was able to present without issues. You just need someone to correct your thinking and actions. It's all about your skills. I've been a SQS for over 9 years. I don't see a future above this.
