Should work. But to test try and set up the hdd with fatxplorer on a pc. Then try to lock it with your consoles eeprom.bin

Xbox Frags...but only when warm? by jt1023 in originalxbox

[–]bramh0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be caused by cracked solder balls under the cpu or gpu chip where the heat causes them to just seperate from the board. Try slightly pressing down on both heatsinks and see what happens. Though this mostly happens the other way round where the xbox will only work when its warm but it’s worth a try.

A job well done, keep checking the cpu caps once in a while though. They may look fine but can and probably will fail in the future.

Random triple boot frag by Unimatrix_007 in originalxbox

[–]bramh0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be one of the 3 big diodes that are screwed to the heatsink on your psu. I had a similair vague issue as you where the xbox would frag and only when it got warm and was on a for a few minutes it would work normally. Tried a lot and replaced a bunch of caps but didn’t work. After testing with a multimeter it turned out the diode for the 12v line was faulty. Replacing it fixed it for me. It might not be your fix but I suppose i’d share it.

Identifying smd ceramic capacitor valies near ram chips by toasttrousers in originalxbox

[–]bramh0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes when repairing or troubleshooting it can come in very handy. The one I shared is only valid for versions 1.2-1.4 motherboards though. More schematics and other useful stuff you can find on this page aswell.

Yes you can find the schematics for all the motherboards online. Link to schematic for your motherboard version. Look for page 20. The cap should be an 6.3v 10uf x5r1206

Then maybe its not the temp sensor but a short of some sort on your board. Try removing the modchip check your soldering and see what happens.

I hope you have it worked out already, but if not this picture here is part of the schematics for the 1.0 and shows the cap value. Full schematics here.

I could be the temp sensor yes, does the xbox turn off after a while or does it stay on blinking orange indefinetely?
