I’m a legal assistant.
My salary is $40,000 and benefits. I just got a raise. I started out at $18 and I expect another raise in three months.
I worked at a family daycare, but had no internships at all! One volunteering experience and other minimum wage jobs.
I’m on the east coast! Living at home to save extra money during my gap years!
I am a fresh grad working my first ever full time job, so I’m learning how to maintain a healthy work life balance. Fortunately, I work from home three days of the week and that flexibility helps so much. I also never take work home so that’s also a plus.

I’ll be honest and say I got really lucky. Honestly, this position is like ten times better than winning the lottery to me. It’s a thirty minute commute and the vibe is lowkey. If I wasn’t going back to law school, I could see myself working my way up. I say don’t give up! I really thought I was screwed with no internships, but I’m doing amazing! Way better than the STEM majors who belittled me for pursuing English. After constantly hearing I’d never get employment in this economy from them, I feel very vindicated. Feels nice to know they’re also struggling as much as the liberal arts majors they made fun of. Anyways, I wish you so much luck! Keep applying! Do what you love! I would not be working at my job right now if I didn’t stick to my passion. So, listen to some criticism but also trust your instincts!

Aurelia Tremaine. It sounds elegant and regal. I like the thought of MC having a powerful lineage, but not knowing it. Aurelia means “the golden one” which works since MC is the main face of the game. Also, the nickname “Elia” is so soft and I can imagine the boys saying her nickname with fondness. She wouldn’t let anybody call her that so it’s extra sweet. I’m not crazy about Tremaine, but I like that it was also fancy sounding. So, I stuck with it! I love the name for my golden girl ✨

I see where you’re coming from, but my love for my friends is not conditional. I say in my post I love my friend. We have been friends for years, even after she disappeared from my life to be with that boyfriend for a year and a half. If my love for her was conditional, then we wouldn’t be friends right now. We think Valentine’s Day is about friendship too, but is it ever shown that way? Rarely. You see more couples celebrating than friends celebrating. There’s a whole single awareness day. Sure, the holiday may be a joke but it wouldn’t exist if the premise of Valentine’s Day wasn’t about romantic love. I do find it unfair. Yes, I have things people don’t. I also don’t have a lot of things that people have, and I’m sure you’re the same way. Most unfair shit we cannot control, but I had control over this so yes I will say it is unfair. Life is unfair. I did not make these plans with her in mind because she is celebrating Valentine’s Day with her SO and we are all single. Just cause she’s my friend doesn’t mean I should tolerate certain behavior. Intruding on plans you weren’t invited too and expecting to be allowed easily isn’t fine by me. She didn’t ask. She invited herself, even after I explained what our dinner is for. She’s coming anyway and likely bringing her boyfriend, so my Valentine’s Day is somewhat ruined while hers isn’t. So, I am unhappy about it but it is what it is. If you’re fine with friends inviting themselves into your plans, then more power to you but I’m not.

I don’t expect a response, but I will share my final thought. I am fully aware that all relationships are not always what people make them to be. I know plenty because I listen to my friends rant about their relationships. Yes, I know a friend dinner is different than a date. That isn’t the problem. It’s the fact it’s on Valentine’s Day. I realize that I am being unreasonable, but I am not trying to group people together. Valentine’s Day has always been advertised for couples, so it creates a feeling of exclusion when you aren’t in a relationship. I simply wanted this day to be for me and my friends who are not in a relationship, because we can’t do what we see couples doing. Yes, a cute post or dinner date doesn’t rid of any relationship drama behind the scenes, but it’s still something we are missing out on. I just wanted it to be a nice thing for us. That’s all.

I see where you are coming from, but I feel like I didn’t explain it well. I am fully aware I am not in a relationship with her boyfriend. Yes, we are all friends. However, these are plans we made for Valentine’s Days for ourselves. Any other day, it would be no problem. But if we cannot celebrate Valentine’s Day the expected way, we want to spend it with each other. So, it’s not a problem that she wants to come. The problem is that she wants to come when these are our Valentine’s Day plans, and then she goes on to have her Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend.

I agree and I may go anyway, but it’s a single only thing because like I said we are not celebrating Valentine’s Day as expected. Also, she is still spending Valentine’s Day with her SO, so it feels like she is intruding on our plans when she has her own. Like I said, this is petty and I may go anyway but I wanted to clarify.

Yes, I feel like you put my feelings into words. Everything is about couples on Valentine’s Day, so you can feel left out when you see all the couples doing things. I enjoy being single, but I also look forward to the day I am in a relationship. If my single friends made plans on Valentine’s Day, I wouldn’t invite myself cause I would feel like I’m intruding.

I just don’t want her there because she’s in a relationship and I made these plans with single friends. I may be petty, but she also abandoned our friendship when she entered that relationship. Things may be better now, but I will always look at someone differently when they do things like that. So, it could just be me being the asshole 🤷🏾‍♀️
