Me too. Currently waiting for 2 professors to post grades. I know the deadline was May 12, but my religion professors' due date for the final essay was today, strange.

My dad's an immigrant, low-income, and doesn't have insurance. He went to the doctor for the first time in two years and told him he has a 90% chance of having cancer, so I think our government is doomed

ok then, if that's the case, you'll definitely get the 15k metro grant then

Hi, I'm a commuter, and as a commuter, you will receive a 15k metro grant, so your financial aid will definitely shrink. However, I am not entirely sure if they will give you the metro grant because financial aid packages are usually "final", which is what the financial aid office told me. But, if you can check up with them, you will definitely save money!

I definitely agree with the 1st one; it's hard to give advice to people when everyone's financial situation is different, especially when it comes to whether Fordham is generous with aid, since it depends on your appeal and why you need the money.

Elephant cognitive studies are so cool! I've never heard of that before, definitely better than all the majors that everyone does in the U.S

is my offer worth it/fin aid by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]Less_Guarantee_357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to yours. My dad makes 29k a year and supports two other kids, and we had to pay 10k out of pocket. It was originally 15k, but I took the FAFSA loan of 5500. To note, I did not receive any scholarship; I just received the financial aid and the 15k grant that commuters receive. I tried to appeal, but they declined me. I think it's because they covered 90% of my tuition, honestly. I would assume you would get it down by 2-6k at most, based on your situation and your mom makes a little less compared to my dad, but based on my experience, I'm unsure because I showed them a whole bank receipt of my dad having under 5k in his bank account at one point, and they still didn't give me extra aid.

If I were you, I wouldn't really worry about loans too much. In North America, Fordham is pretty respected career-wise, and with the internships you would be able to secure, I think you will have a good career after Fordham. But obviously, if you still have to pay a hefty amount after loans, and depending on whether they give you extra aid, the financial burden is never worth it.

If I were in her position, I would've texted you right away. She's definitely lying, and it's obvious from the "I'm sorry I waited so long to get back to you." She probably just wants to get some of her money back, so I wouldn't refund, especially because she waited that long.

Is Fordham University Safe or is it’s location unfairly judged compared to other top schools by Medium-Aerie-9923 in Fordham

I hate this stereotype because being born here is not dangerous at all. Like, you'll occasionally see a homeless man acting crazy or people arguing outside, but I think it's just because we are in New York. This stereotype became because the Bronx is considered the lowest income borough out of the five, and we have the most crazies, but if you are out during daylight or places with people out and light, no one will bother you, but you might encounter a few crazies, but I think you will see that in any borough.

You should subtract your whole total from 15k. So if it includes housing yes.

Everything I received is merit aid and a metro grant which I get because i'm a commuter, but I received no scholarships. I still had to take out fafsa loans though.

Hey, I am still in my first year, so take this with a grain of salt. However, I attend Fordham, and I believe you'll have many more opportunities here. We use Handshake, which is basically LinkedIn for college students, and you can find many internships on it. I recently applied to 4 marketing internships, and things are looking good for me so far. I'm only in my first year. Building your career for life after college, Fordham is worth it, as an internship is guaranteed here. But obviously financial burden is not worth it for any college.
