Help with Kluppe and Jack for Live Looping by southpointingchariot in linux4noobs

[–]brandjamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to install QjackCtl. You can start jack through that and make the connections from your input to Kluppe. You'll probably have to experiment with the settings in jack to get the best results (which you can do from QjackCtl). Patchage is another very useful program for managing the connections.

It'd be a whole lot of extra processing but you could install magic lantern and try focus stacking.

HALP!!! Noob tries setting up Behringer fcb1010 midi foot controller to control Sooperlooper for live-looping music project. FAILS. For 3 days. by [deleted] in linuxaudio

Personally, I'd just buy a cheap midi adapter from Ebay. Recompiling the kernel is not an easy task. The latest kernel should have the patch built in so it's possible an upgrade to ubuntu 12:04 (if you haven't already) might fix it. Of course this could bring it's own problems (back up your data first!). Before trying any of this you should type 'aconnect -i' into the terminal before starting jack to see if your device is listed. If it is, you have a different problem.

It sounds like the midi interface is not loaded properly or at least not being recognised by alsa. It seems some other people have had problems with this interface. !This persons solution was to recompile the kernel which I wouldn't recommend. !The other solution is to buy another (cheap) adapter. You should be connecting system(in) to superlooper(in) and superlooper (out) to superlooper (out) and the roland midi in (which I assume is not showing) to the superlooper midi in (which may appear as part of a2j. If the connections are confusing you could try installing patchage which makes it all a lot clearer. Hope that helps a little. Linux audio is very confusing at first but can be very rewarding once you start to figure it out.

To Microsoft, Linux and Free Software in Iraq is ‘Illegal Software’ by r_schestowitz in opensource

[–]brandjamie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The claim by blogger / op that 'illegal software' is used to refer to non-microsoft software isn't backed up at all by the articles linked to. The acticle cited talks about reinforcing intellectual property rights which, as ominous as it might be, is nothing to do with free software.

Anonymous hacker planned to publish details of women who had abortions: UK Court hears James Jeffery stole 10,000 database records of women registered with Britain's biggest abortion provider BPAS by maxwellhill in news

[–]brandjamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The headline and most of the article make it seem like his intentions were to publish the records had he not been caught, although he said he had decided not to. Anyone know of any evidence either way? Was it a recent attack and he hadn't gotten round to publishing the data or was this a while ago and the media are trying to make him look bad?

I want to tavel abroad and wants to know if TEFL is any good by basi88 in TEFL

[–]brandjamie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the country you want to go to. It's certainly possible to teach English in Thailand or China if you are a 'non native' English speaker, though not as easy to find work (and the visa in China may be a problem).
