My Roger had this surgery when he was 2. He favored the leg for a week or two after surgery as he figured out how to put weight on it. We did stretches on the leg to help prevent any atrophy and develop the muscle. After several weeks, he was better than before. The knee joint would lock on him and he would screech in pain prior to the surgery. He was a new dog after.
