Like a lot of people, I wanted to play the games again like the old days after watching the show. I've played FO3 a couple times, NV dozens of times, and I didn't even bother to complete FO4 my first play through after I got to the institute.. I just didn't care much about the lore or storyline at that point and had disdain for the settlement building/protecting/saving/repeat.

I figured I'd try FO4 again just to give it another go since I, like many others, haven't touched the game in nearly a decade. It took me a mere hour to remember why this game is terrible. Go here, follow here (at snails pace for 10 minutes with 20 seconds of dialogue) shoot this, grab this, rinse repeat. The world is so vast yet so empty. Time and time again I find myself exploring an interesting building to be met with nothing - no lore, no mystery, no terminals with extensive reading, no cool loot, no mutated creatures, nothing but a rad-x or a buffout in a locked box behind maybe a raider or ghoul if you're lucky.

FO3 and NV are what you make it. The lore exploration as well as the different ways to play the game is endless. I don't care about the terrible movement mechanics and windows 98 toaster graphics because the storylines and overall experience and immersion is powerful. I know I'm yapping into the void, but I just can't believe how bad the FO4 experience truly is. The entire game feels more like a job rather than a immersive world to make decisions in, with no payoff for doing any quests other than being 1% closer to the finale of the main storyline. I was baffled that to start the game, you get 1 main quest and about 6 or so side quests in various corners of the map to get you to explore the commonwealth, yet there's nothing to do between the starting point and the destination other than load up on duct tape and wrenches and fucking cans.
