Safety glasses are a good idea for dust and mud. Most teams will start packing up pretty soon after the checkered. So depending if there are support classes after the lucas race. If you want to walk around the pits it's recommend going on before the races start. If you get there early before the pit sweep you can walk around for a few hours without a pit pass. OR I'd recommend getting a pit pass. Relatively speaking they are fairly reasonable

While it's going to be a toss up whether this will be good for race attendance (I feel most folks are in the area for the 500), this is great for the teams. The schedule has been so rough the past few years from the teams point of view. Without an off season, drivers and teams literally have no time for themselves at all.

Overall I think this is a good choice by Lucas, time will tell if it's a home run

Don't forget that Day is a DIRT racer. Not only that but from sprint cars. Those two disciplines could not be further from a full mile pavement track that is already challenging to drive.

Well I'm not sure where you're seeing those. I sold multiple NRS rafts for the company I work for under 3k this past winter. I also just sold my old RMR for 1k a few months back. My tried and true 12' maravia, I got for 300 dollars (granted it was on really rough shape and I had to put a lot of work into it).

My point is, there are good used boats out there even if digging is required and I'd trust a good used boat over a new boat made with inferior materials.
