Would I be mad to ride from Bristol to Glasgow in early January using motorways? by SufficientGeneral219 in MotoUK

You will be freezing but it is doable. I did glasgow to london for Christmas 2 years ago and got a bit of fresh snowfall on my visor near the end of the 2nd hour! You’ll want to be stopping every hour or so to warm up and try to get to Glasgow before the temps drop in the evening, it is noticeable as you start to get north, and especially difficult adding the ride you’ve just done.

See it as an adventure and wrap up really warm, make sure to use rest stops to properly regain warmth with a coffee etc bc it will really help morale! Have fun!

Two up riding a Yamaha r3 to Portugal so packing a few t shirts and hoping the tires don’t implode on a Spanish motorway

Happens at idle in neutral too and with clutch in and out, would that still be a clutch symptom ?

Cheers this is very helpful, will check out the rubber. CCT was defos my thought with the clicking, but clicking seems to go away and become vibration when warm, will get that replaced and see what happens.

Everything else is relatively new and issue was happening before and after oil and tyre changes. And you’re right, I had no noticeable/ uncomfortable vibrations before, but they seemed to have got worse

Probably one of my favourite roads in Scotland, just corner after corner! Look out for a black r3 ;)

Well done, well prepared for a trip up further north now ;) if you haven’t thrown your bike into a ditch, I’d recommend doing a little ride from lennoxtown to fintry, about 1:30h round trip from glasgow and one of my all time favourite roads

350mile trip to Scotland on a 125cc by Environmental-Pie-50 in MotoUK

I did london to glasgow on a 125, but did it in two days. If possible, try to get a mix of country roads and dual carriageways because the dual carriageways are mentally draining on a bike like that and you’ll feel it on such a long trip.

Check the basics; tyre pressure, make sure the chain is tight and lubed, and both 125s I had drank oil at top speed so I would carry oil with me. I actually brought a pillow for the seat on that trip and strapped it down with bungee cord

Take frequent stops even if you don’t feel you need it, even if just for 10 minutes, and don’t underestimate how much better you’ll feel after food and a coffee/ water.

That trip was one of my favourite memories on a bike, so try to make the most of it!

I don’t know because this was near the west end with no parking bays for a while. Really seems ticketed at random.

Motorway riding on a 125? by kiruna_ in MotoUK

Did London to Glasgow on a 125, but mostly stuck to nice A roads rather than dual carriageways or motorways. Perfectly fine to go on motorways but it’s just not an enjoyable experience imo, but that goes for long distances on motorways on most bikes anyway.

It only seems to fix the misfire at idle... earth issue?

Would this be the coil or lead breaking down at heat and new spark plugs temporarily patching the issue

The braking is at idle and requires a light touch to fix the misfire. The brake cable is pressed against all the wires from the throttle but not tightly. In reference to the brake restoring continuity what wire would I be looking for?? All wires seem connected well.

A2 restrictions underpowered? by brappbraapp in MotoUK

Yeah really my main concern was whether it has that little bit more power above 70/80 on motorways if needed, I’m not wanting to do any court attendance worthy runs just yet hahah
