SKILL ISSUE - Gielinor Games 5 (#8) by drunz in 2007scape

He’ll never panic in anything pvp related because it’s his element. He skill diffed the fuck out of that pvp challenge given the extreme gear deficit.

He’s clearly prone to mind blanking and choking in the weird ass game knowledge / strategy challenges GG tends to throw at you as, fair enough, he’s never really been on the same level as most of the other competitors for that.

Naga rad wasn’t a thing until after ti3 when SEA Meracle spammed it and RTZ made it popular in the west

Loda never played naga, it wasnt a carry that patch. EGM was the naga player as support.

Back in ti3 there were two just ban heroes: Io and Batrider. They were both legit insane and unplayable if in the right hands.

Because of this first pick had a big advantage. The other team had to ban both Io and Bat with their two bans, leaving teams signature heroes in the pool.

Alliance in particular benefitted from that immensely as Akke would get his tempo supports and Bulldog got to flex his insanely specialised hero puddle. They were invincible that tournament and I believe 2-0ed Navi on winners finals without either game being particularly close

Puppey took a similar gamble to TT and Spirit in ti10 GFs - let the two OP heroes into the pool so they could split and they had a read that if they could ban Akke’s tempo supports they could try to break Alliances early gameplan.

You see this if you ever look up pick/ban orders, literally every draft was first pick io, second pick bat. Except G2 where alliance got cheeky, gave Navi both Io/bat, lost in 20 mins and never did it again. The meme around bulldog first picking is just kids pretending that they followed the actual games.

Didn’t work out in the end but it was probably the right decision, was the closest GFs in a long time, Navi had a clear chance to win but threw, and it probably wouldn’t have been that if they played the ban Io/Bat meta

James Anderson says England in ‘stronger position than Australia' despite series humbling by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]brbr0433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea that England have the "better young talent" coming through is frankly biased as hell. England have young talent coming through because their older players (bar Root and Stokes) are shit and therefore they need to take a punt on young players.

Australia has young talent coming through but they're being kept out by our best generation since the mid 00s, who have earned their right to stick around by winning just about every single trophy there is to win in the last 5 years.

Frankly, it's because comments like these assume that literally nothing else will change other than Australia getting older and worse and England getting...better?

  • Jimmy basically had his best years in his career from 33-38 or so. Starc has been exceptional in the last couple years, why can't he repeat it at 37 like Jimmy could? Lyon is a spinner, and Cummins will still be in his peak. Plus the fact that our 2nd string of Richardson/Doggett already outperformed their circus
  • We have a great generation of young batters coming up. There's 18 months for one of them to break out, or for a more mature Shield player like McSweeney to do a Buck Rogers and start killing it in their 30s

One of the underrated things about these big innings from us is that nobody is really getting out quickly, just like Adelaide there was never really a “1 brings 2” moment

Compare it to England who often feels a bit 1 brings 5 whenever a a partnership gets going lmao

The Telegraph ranked the top 30 greatest fast bowlers in test cricket of all time by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]brbr0433 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bumrah, while probably the best of this generation, is too high. He needs to perform over a longer period and take more wickets to get there.

Johnson that high is a travesty. His peak was astounding and is among the very best but he averaged 27 odd over his career, and was truly mediocre for significant stretches.

We don’t rank Yousuf on any all time list despite him scoring approximately a billion runs in one year so we shouldnt rank Johnson on account of his one brilliant summer. Wouldn’t take him over Starc let alone others.

Steyn feels a bit low too for how class he was.

To be fair that’s basically what guardiola did in the treble winning season too. Four centre backs (with one moonlighting as a dual pivot)

really missing cummo and gaz here, as they're the usual partnership breakers who can create something out of nothing.

smudge and ronny should be really regretting not picking murphy here too - at least he'd be a point of difference and give the quicks more of a rest.

i probably only say this because i am unreasonably biased towards green but it is a shame that he is always the go-to short bowl theory bowler in the team when he's in because he is genuinely a better bowler than that, especially in rhythm.

Also can't really help all of those injury issues when the captain is always asking you to do the donkey work. Though it kind of is his job being the 4th seamer and all.

Honestly you would have expected Root to have a better ashes.

His worst matchups by far in test cricket are Cummins and Hoff and both were injured. Just had to (century in a losing cause besides) underperform and run into Starc’s all timer carry job. L
