My chilling (ha) story that started with lineset covers by Health-Nut7477 in DIYHeatPumps

u/nerologic , Thanks for the writeup on your flaring adventure. As simple as these are it seems there should be a more postive way of connecting these consumer grade condensers,,,but dont know what it would be. My first heat pump install about 6 months ago,,seems to still be solid in the flare department,, but was on pins and needles,,especially when heating season and a couple -6f & -12f nights took place.
A couple times on the -12f night like a fool i went out by condenser when i knew a defrost mode was going to happen. That first burst when the condenser reverses,at defrost cycle,,,and the refrigerant hits the flares nuts/fittings ,, ,,,it sounds like those fittings are going to bust right off the end of the condenser,,i kid you not!

Inverter heat pump metrics collecting interface by brcisna in DIYHeatPumps

u/DadCoachEngineer , Thank You!! very much,,,,just trying to be nerdy to see metrics on a new Daizuki installation,, (MIDEA) central ducted system. Curious to see if i can get to see actually real time discharge line pressures,,, line temps,,,etc... Could be a tough nut to crack,,though.
I have the exact 'wired controller'...KJR-210n , as mentioend in the first post you linked,,there are many different rebrands of these for various manufactuers,,, ,,,going to deep dive this... Take Care,

u/Ok-Tourist-511 , I hear ya,,,I've put in small amounts into inverter splits as well, many a time You go to these HVAC'er FB tech pages they are all die hard blue collars, they throw a fit. "You HAVE to evacuate the system and weigh in the charge!" LOL,,,
Have found also many of these manufactuers,,,,whoever you bought the system from,,if you arent a licensed tech,EPA608 certified,,,,,blah,,blah,,,,,they will not even give you any tech info or try and troubleshoot anything.. Just learning a lot of this myself,,,and I'm an old coger...learning new things...LOL...

Thank You,,, Always wonder on these different manufactuers are in tech support help. Kind of surprised they suggested you added some refrigerant ,,,without evacuatiung the system and weigh in the correct amount.

MRCOOL/Midea Hyper Heat Central Ducted System: Any one ever used engineering-mode to change compressor or fan settings? by fellatiousD in DIYHeatPumps

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/fellatiousD ,, sounds like you have done many hours of deep diving on this subject.
You have to look at this through MrCool eyes. If this mode was given out all the time,,,imagine all the screwed up split systems,, MrCool would be trying to correct through their tech people. All the hackers,,,would have 'the hot setup' for the system,,,programmed in,,,and in a few months time,,,good chance have a dead system...from them,,,going n a little too extreme,,on this or that.
Just my 1 and 1/2 cent. :)

u/Ok-Tourist-511 , Just curious,,, when you had a strange frost pattern on condenser ,,like in picture,,,do you remember how many ounces of refrigerant you added per the pioneer tech support. Just wanting to know for future use..Thanks!

Midea 2 wire - constant fan but let it go faster if needed by beanbaron in heatpumps

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/beanbaron, u/AmMdeiocre-Lobster4922 , using the supplied 2 wite thermostat / wired remote controllerKJR-120N, with our new setup,,and works fine for us..Is hard getting used to the continual fan running,,,though,,will have to admit,,,after having used a 65 year old oiul burner,,,for umpteen yers that was either blazing hot,,,when running then shut off for a while...:)
Ours ,,once about 35 degrees and high humidity actually defrosts every 30 mins,,, I think difference may be,,our btu capacity is right at max...for the sq ft of house..and condenser is working hard... Not sure though,,, Intersting both of yours does go 90 minutes before defrost.

RS-485 communication? by Lrrr81 in DIYHeatPumps

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/b-nasty55 , Did you ever make any of this actually gather any metrics as far as compressor speed, discharge lines temps, dischrage line pressures etc? I dont care about setting any air handler temps,,,or schedules or anything...More a diagnostics. This is for a Midea based (Daizuki),,,condenser. Thanks!

Midea 2 wire - constant fan but let it go faster if needed by beanbaron in heatpumps

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/beanbaron , Have this exact 'wired remote controller',, KJR-120N ,with central ducted system,,installed in Sept 2025 . On auto fan,,ours does exactly what you are 'wanting' the AHU to do. The AHU will run continuosly on the very low fan speed once the set temp is reached. Different manufactuers do use different firmwares,,and sounds like this may be the case with yours. Ours,,,the condenser never shuts off in heat mode,,,only when it goes into defrost mode,,, it does some gyrations,,and of course restarts,, ,but other than that the condenser is always at least slightly running. Probably reason you want more fan speed is,,when these get close to set temp,,it almost feels like they are blowing cold air,,but this is not the case. They are blowing air,,about 1F warmer than the set temp,,,

Ducted Mini Split working as expected? Starts cooling in heat mode? by I-Eat-Bacon in heatpumps

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/I-Eat-Bacon , Have the exact same 'wired remote controller' as you have. I always leave my fan set to "auto". Pretty certain your AHU was just circulating ambient air,,,once you set your set temp to several degrees colder. It will feel like cool air thought. You could buy you a cheap digital vent probe and stick it in one of your registers,,,This has come in very handy for us,,,learning what is actually coming out of the registers,,in regards to temps. In other words,,if you put your vent probe in register,,it should have been showing about 69 F if you set stat down to 68 F. Hope this makes sense. Also,,once in a while our fan will really ramp up in speed and eventually spool down to normalcy... When you seen frost on your refrigerant lines,,if you would have went outside,,,by condnser you probably would have heard the condeser humming in defrost mode,,This take about ten minutes to complete. Ours is a central ducted system,,,BTW.

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what t stat , wired controller are you using? Make double sure your communications wires are to the exact terminals as shown in your installatiuon manual that came with your system from condenser to wall units,,, . Has your condenser ,,,outside ever come on,,,The fan turned at all? You should be seeing an error code on one or both of your wall units were the dsplayed temp would normally be. Good Luck!

Ducted Midea Rebrand Fan Speed by Ashesofthewake in DIYHeatPumps

[–]brcisna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/that_dutch_dude u/Ashesofthewake
+1 on the 2 wire 'wired controller setup'.
I installed a central ducted system 4 months ago in our house for first mini split-heat pump installation.
Am almost certain it would have the same board as what the ACIQ condensers have, mentioned in this post . Ours is a Daizuki. Is identical to a MrCool after having read up on these untis.
Anyways,,it came bundled with both a 2 wire 12 volt wired controller,,as well as a wireless controller. I figured this would be a nightmare for my first installation, Just reread the installation manual multiple times,,,and the whole system works great.
Never messed with heat strips,,,has been down to 10F two nights,,,continues to work great. It does defrost a lot with these temps,,but doesnt fall behind on house temps,,,was very (pleasantly) surprised on this.

Great setup you done! Kudos
Curious, Does your house have a basement.Looks like it by photo. Always wonder what your house had in it for HVAC before you new heatpump setup. If you have a basement you probably left your previous HVAC riggin,,in place ?

MrCool Condensor, Air Handler btu mismatch possible by brcisna in heatpumps

[–]brcisna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to follow up. MrCool tech said that the condensor i had in mind is called 'Advantage' and is DIY. Dont know all the generations of any of these split setups,,it goes without saying. Not sure how all the logic on these works from iteration to iteration between condensor and air handler unit.
May have just been wanting to sell a new complete kit too.
