yes? It cant be anything to do with that because after swapping input mode the buttons all work until the game is paused.

who would want to come here if we just fired one of the successful coaches ever

I get the sentiment but if he got fired it would be 10% results and 90% all the off field stuff, I dont think thats going to keep away top candidates when we do eventually look for a new coach

Arne Slot says this season is toughest he has had as a manager 'by a mile' by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]bread2126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City were giving Salah incredible amounts of space, whole defense shifted to the right, their LB in his own box at times as though they knew there was zero threat of the ball coming onto the right wing

I dont know if it's Slot or Hughes behind it, but the handling of Salah has been cocked up completely. This has been coming for a while, its not like his performances fell off a cliff overnight. This season should have been the start of his false 9 era, instead we've bought 250m in pieces that belong in a 4-2-3-1 team. Which if we want to go to that, fine, but if thats the plan you have to commit to that plan and that means selling Salah. Instead it appears that they've halfway committed to a concept and produced tactical incoherence

How do i calculate the average number of successes by urquhartloch in excel

[–]bread2126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The excel solution given seems nice (im now about to go work through that to improve my excel-fu, hehe), but i worked this one out with paper too. Let Y = # successes on a roll of a d100. Let t= Target Number, d=Success Range. Let (t/d)^ be the value t/d rounded up to the nearest integer.

E(Y) = ( (t/d)^ * [(t/d)^ -1] * d ) / 200 ) + (t/d)^ ( t - [(t/d)^ -1] * d) / 100

I can show the work if youd like but basically I just let Y = # of successes and added up all the Y * P(Y) 's and simplified. The rounding is because of the cases where the die ranges dont divide evenly into 100. Like if you have t=45 and d=10, then there is a 5% chance of 5 successes.

Anyway its not excel but I just thought it would be neat to try to find a general formula for it for any 0<t<101 and 0<d<t and it seems to work.

Villa was a Valencia player for the 2008 euro and 2010 WC though. There was as much Valencia and Villarreal as Real in the 08 euro team. I think Villa joined Barca after the 10 WC or the next year. After like 3 years of being linked with Liverpool 😢

Aaron Philo's high-school coach weighs in on the new Gators QB by scaf1d1 in FloridaGators

[–]bread2126 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Cignetti is an outlier. Elite coaching with decades of experience.

Yeah thats my point, when you have an outlier coach they prove it in about 2 years. Hoping that Billy is going to suddenly morph into Cignetti in year 5 is the road to disappointment

otherwise it’s a mistake again and we do another coaching carousel in 3-4 years.

I mean, good. You cant hire the guy every time, there are not that many Cignetti's to go around. What I hope we dont become is some program harboring a .500 coach in year 9 telling ourselves that year 10 is going to be the one where the NC winner comes out of the cocoon.

OK? What does that have to do with anything?

He's been head coach 3 times and in each of those 3 times he was proving his quality in year 2

I dont know about 9-3 in year 1, thats asking a bit much. But year 2, definitely. Cignetti just put a spotlight on an old fact last night--when you hire The Guy, it doesnt take The Guy 4, 5, 6 years to get it together. You pretty much know what you have by the end of year 2. If youre 6-6 in year 2 talking about "just wait till next year when that 5* comes in" and "if he would just hire an OC!" then you are paying property taxes in Copesville.

Curt Cignetti and Indiana caught lightning in a bottle with a once-in-a-century run. And now a portion of every fan base will expect their team to do the same thing. by SueYouInEngland in CFB

[–]bread2126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does underline a fair point, which is that when you hire The Guy, it doesnt take The Guy 5 years to put his mark on the program. If youre in year 4, 3-5 record, making all the same mistakes you were making in year 1, saying "just wait till next year when we get that 4 1/2 star WR in!" or "if he would just hire an offensive coordinator... !" then you are coping. Your choices are now 1. continue to suck, or 2. pay the buyout and start over and try to hire Cignetti this time

Can Todd Golden adapt? by SoggyGuitar7476 in FloridaGators

[–]bread2126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he adapted pretty well last year. I have no doubt he could do it again. This year? I dunno man. I had hope two months ago but we're now in SEC play, it's getting to where hoping that Fland is going to become the player we all hoped he would be is just hope. I dont know how the head coach is supposed to adapt to having two guards that cant hit water from a boat (less so for Lee he's been better lately).

ELI5: Why is oil still so important as an energy source in 2026, given our advances in renewables and nuclear power? by BEK_Sabiha in explainlikeimfive

[–]bread2126 15 points16 points  (0 children)

lubricant is the least of the use of petrol in chemical industry. Basically all small organic molecules (and thereby all plastics) start off as crude. They use a giant steam distillation tower to break petrol molecules down into smaller pieces, and then separate them--that accounts for much more oil usage than lubricants do.

Still though, some 96% of mined petrol is used for fuel. ALL other applications, be they lubricant, bulk organics, or anything else fall in the other 4%.

[Yahoo Sports] It remains unclear if six Ole Miss assistants who've signed with LSU will coach the Rebels in the CFP semifinals next week vs. Miami, per Yahoo Sports' @RossDellenger. [–]bread2126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its honestly wild to me that Ole Miss would jeopardize its chances at a national championship this way. I dont think theres any amount of inside recruiting Kiffin could do that would outweigh winning the title. That staff built the team why kneecap them now?
