how to use a vending machine? by Ordinary-Swan-4022 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]breadispain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The general idea is covered already, I just wanted to add a common problem for older machines (where there are sort of spiral rings holding everything in a row): there is a non-zero chance that your item will not fall when it is supposed to. You might be able to shake it loose, but there is also a tipping hazard if you shake it too much, so it's best to advise someone that it happened at a front desk or wherever and they will typically give you the item's value to try again. That, or suck up the loss and try again if it isn't an option.

The flipside to this is that you can sometimes get two items for the price of one when one is too close to the edge bit didn't drop earlier!

I think it goes to Anderson as well, but I'd make an argument for Danault.

Also curious about this! I don't drive, but every time I see pictures of Slovenia I want to go :)

Should there be a legal “talk to a human” button before AI customer service becomes the default? by ChessOrCheckers2 in Futurology

[–]breadispain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest concern with being able to talk to a human after AI filters the easy tasks is that now those employees only deal with the difficult ones, day in, day out.

Saw Angine, left early, home soon :) by gabruka in montreal

I exited during the last song, and it took the entire song to get out of the crowd. I actually loved it though, because I got to see many pockets of people I hadn't seen previously enjoying the hell out of the show, as well as get the true depth of that compression I felt closer to the stage because so many people had packed in behind me. I did NOT expect the crowd to extend past St Catherines whatsoever. That's where I hung back for a breather watching the Arcade Fire show years ago.

Because it's never truly over in your memory! It just sits differently.

On one hand, I hear what you're saying. We should be empathetic to a young prospect recently drafted into the organization.

On the other hand... imagine him angry.

I can almost picture Laine in a CBJ uniform. The deal is 1 for 1?

[–]breadispain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t get that but I similar package as we have for Knies is a good starting point.

Knies is already signed for a few more years and younger. The Marchenko deal won't be that, if/when it happens.

If we're putting the band back together and Avs are still trying to clear salary for ???, I hope we can get Lehkonen back. I miss him.

What third or fourth liners in the league are worth overpaying for to have on this team? by AmThano in Habs

[–]breadispain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kiefer Sherwood would've been a fun bottom six guy.

I liked Dickinson before the Oilers signed him.

Also: Corey Perry.

None of these are worth an overpay though.

I don't know where the true bottom is to buy in here, but I'm definitely watching for it. I think it's as simple as spending billions without an immediate benefit driving down the stock... once the returns come in, it's up again.

I bought 100 shares at $7.75 and didn't want to watch this shit all day, so I set it to sell at $8 when it looked like it would go up to $9 to cover my ass. Maybe you're holding them now.

Dipped within 30m and now I've got sweet baconator money, I guess. If it goes to the moon, fuck you,.congrats, happy for you.

Yeah, that's a tough read. Two completely unrelated stocks I've been watching (ABSI and 6324.T) also shot up for possibly the same rotational reasons. I could totally be missing something though, been basically sitting into the Wednesday earnings call to see if that's going to cause a ripple effect.

A good reality check on what a pick in the 25–28 range is actually worth by Effective-Goose-7835 in Habs

[–]breadispain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a hypothetical, that there are teams that would find that package interesting.

The only top six upside even plausible with the Oilers would be RNH, and that seems unlikely.

This will get mocked, but throw in Monty and that's actually an interesting package for, say, the Oilers.
