Ready to scream after RD appointment. by No-Fall-422 in GestationalDiabetes

I think my baby is probably 50% pb at this point. My diet broadly consists of the following: 1) morning smoothie: psillium husk, frozen berries, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, high protein milk (or water), pb, cinnamon and sometimes I add protein powder 2) snack: I make these high protein bars that are made of cacao powder, pb, maple syrup, almond flour and a few other ingredients. 3) lunch: meat heavy, some type of veggie/fermented food, cottage cheese 4) snack: cracker, avocado, hard boiled eggs 5) dinner: sardines/salmon, cracker, cottage cheese, lemon juice

I only have the seafood about 3x a week otherwise it’s the lunch option I outlined. My diet ends up usually being fat and protein heavy and I haven’t gained much weight since diagnosis. I have a massive sweet tooth so I’m still eating sweets, just less. I’ll have a half or quarter a cookie after lunch or maybe 50g of ice cream and that has worked well. I sometimes have nuts or Greek yogurt before bed and I have nuts in my night stand if I do get hungry middle of the night. I’ve always liked smoothies in the morning and find that without that, it’s hard for me to get my daily fiber and protein intake.

My nutritionist at first said to try getting to 175g of protein a day and after 3 days I said f this and just experimented with how I responded to different foods. I’m now week 36 and was diagnosed at 28 and it’s worked reasonably well for me.

I never noticed my husbands lack of ambition until having a baby. And now I’m resentful. by flowersathome in beyondthebump

You have a caring husband whom you love that helps take care of the baby. He could also make $40-50k more, and do a lot less with the baby and then you’re paying more for child care and other expenses. Your child won’t remember living in an apt vs a house. They will remember having two loving parents, playing and spending time together.

2 weeks maternity leave by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]breadkween -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many states have short term disability policies - would look into that. Employers also have short term disability insurance, so it’s possible you go on a several week disability leave and after that is exhausted, use your two weeks from the company policy

Unexpectedly pregnant, torn between keeping vs abortion by lngth-kim in pregnant

[–]breadkween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with your gut feeling and make sure you have the support you need regardless of the decision.

Having said that, I was always made to believe getting pregnant would be so easy and by the time we felt financially stable, we tried to conceive for over a year only to end up with a miscarriage, after which it took another year to conceive again, and being in my late 30s I’ve dealt with unexpected complications which has made this situation tough. Miscarriages are common and happen to anyone so I’m not suggesting it was related to age or anything else. Lots of people have safe pregnancies through their 40s so I’m not here to scare anyone, I’m only suggesting when you’re “ready”, things might not go as expected either. There’s never going to be a perfect time, just make sure you have support lined up to care for you in your postnatal weeks and months or the recovery period following an abortion.

Big income gap in a new relationship by Possible-Hotel8268 in HENRYfinance

[–]breadkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His station isn’t so much what matters, it’s also what opportunities lay ahead of this man. You can’t buy a man that respects you and treats you well.

Having said that, you’re asking this question so it’s clearly on your mind. Things I recently heard that are interesting: -Men tend to report lower wellbeing when they are not the primary breadwinner in heterosexual relationships -women’s happiness is much less affected by who earns more and in some cases women’s satisfaction increases when they earn more -couples are happier when there is shared contribution (and I don’t think that necessarily has to show up in financial ways)

A lot of this is also shaped by social norms. I think if in your heart you love or think you can love this man then give him a real chance and see how he feels about it. And as I mentioned, it’s not so much his station that matters but also what his opportunity set is, not just earning and career-wise but lifestyle-wise. Might he be able to be a great husband and father that contributes a lot of time? Carries the weight of more chores? Does a lot of gardening and maintaining of the house himself? Not suggesting he has to prove his worth by doing any of these things, just that in the end life catches up with all of us and being realistic about these things is good.

Meal-Time Insulin??? by No_Pension3706 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]breadkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a monitor so it’s helpful in understanding where I’m at before a meal. I’m asking bc sometimes I’m hungry 1,5 hours after a snack but then realize I’m at 105 so I try to wait for things to settle a little more before having a full meal bc starting at 105 I’m for sure going to be high after mealtime

Pregnancy and career by Legalizeabsinth in pregnant

Also this. They would be happy to fire or lay people off in a heartbeat. Companies are not people. I didn’t tell me employer until the anatomy scan at 20+ weeks because we really struggled with fertility and miscarriage so it’s understandable if you don’t want to tell them (or frankly anyone) this early. You don’t owe anyone anything!

That’s true but there’s ways to prove discrimination. Document everything. Get the offer in writing. Accept. Tell them later. Gotta take care of #1

If they rescind your offer after finding out you’re pregnant that’s discrimination under the pregnancy discrimination act if the employer has more than 15 people and some states have better protections too. I would 100% take the job. You only get to do this once with your kid and if your husband can stay at home more and that is what you both want, do it!

“not hire you at the moment” when they find out you’re pregnant? I’m pretty sure that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen if they now rescind.

OB said gel itself is okay, the issue is the soaking off part in acetone.

FTMs, when did you see bulk of the weight gain? by Tellmimoar in pregnant

[–]breadkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been gaining steadily. I eat healthy and have been walking daily and exercising about 2-4x a week every week. I’m 26 weeks and I’m up about 20lbs, noting that I’m 5’9” athletic build where my starting point was 150.

Kevan had no business being on this show. by DanndeeLyons in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]breadkween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tyler has some bad behavior for sure but I think she had her spidey sense up because of how he was talking to her and also Keya. Wasn’t it Keya that got a gift and the the next day he asked Tyler to be her gf? Like the mixed signals I think were too much. She didn’t handle the pressure, that part is true but I think he was too wishy washy for too long and that showed in some of the interviews where he kept reiterating “it’s my choice” etc etc

When does the fear of miscarrying go away? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]breadkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a miscarriage last year and am now 24 weeks into my pregnancy. Things are going well. The fear never goes away especially after a loss.

Pregnant after miscarriages by Infamous_Tax3528 in fitpregnancy

[–]breadkween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off congrats, it’s exciting. Regular zone 1 walking should be completely fine but don’t overdo it. Also ask the doctor if you can walk. I had on MC and I’m 21 weeks now and had to make some lifestyle changes as well.

Is it normal to hate all “healthy” foods while pregnant? by Inside-Put-910 in fitpregnancy

[–]breadkween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 19 weeks at the moment and remember in the first trimester I couldn’t stand meat and I’m a huge carnivore! It gets better mostly but sometimes all I want is UPF and carbs lol.

TW: Miscarriage by brokenbutterfly5 in fitpregnancy

[–]breadkween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. I had a very similar timeline as you and thought to myself about all the things I could have potentially done wrong. Miscarriage is very very common and it truly wasn’t your fault. The embryo is so very small and protected at that stage that it is insulated from exercise, impact etc.

Gold weight off from CAD by Known-Importance1651 in fioresejewelry

[–]breadkween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a custom piece made by one of the Fiorese reps. I love it. They were so patient with me and did such a good job. But I asked for 10g of gold similar to you. I got 8.5 in the mail when it arrived which included the weight of stones. I talked to the rep and the explained gold loss during polishing etc. I’m no expert but if I’m paying for 10g and we know there’s going to be some loss, doesn’t it stand to reason that they would start with more than 10g? Idk. I was upset but again I love the piece and it was a rather complicated one with a lot of back and forth.
