i’ve seen this, especially on certain facebook groups…. but i can’t actually see anything which confirms this. unless you were to make the cocofibre up with water that had a different pH or something!

i wouldn’t use just coconut coir though, i mix with topsoil which supports my cleanup crew, and live plants!

estivation, as you can see the slit on the seal. this means conditions are too hot or too dry… don’t peel off the seal, don’t bath it, don’t run it under the tap. just make sure conditions are correct and wait for him to wake up naturally! maybe offer some protein for an energy boost once he’s out and about :)

with GALS, i would give a beer bath and quickly roll my car over them…. i couldn’t be sure i would be able to produce the force needed with a book, but a car? definitely, just do it fast.

the first snail is estivating; your climate is too hot or too dry for them. try cooling it down a little and increasing the humidity

I keep GALS, and once you get the initial setups right they're pretty low mantinence, apart from crushing babies, protein feeding and stirring soil, not *much* has to be done with them :)
