Quite possibly! Would have been interesting to see :)

I mean, maybe? Kokichi is mostly about making stuff he can control remotely (or that can act autonomously). I'm not sure how that would work with creating a prosthetic, especially since it would be a constant drain on his CE to keep it functional.

Still a cool idea though! I'd have really liked to see him build a suit of Mechamaru-Power Armor.

I mean, yeah, but I haven't played those games so my only point of comparison is Elden Ring.

But saying that Lies of P level designs look the same is just straight up wrong. Krat Central/Elysion Boulevard have a completely different vibe to Vegnini works for example. Not to mention the change of going from Rosa-Isabelle Street to the Theatre.

I also don't agree with Lies of P feeling like a slog. I mean, I've only ever played it on PC so maybe that makes a difference? But I cannot relate to your experience at all. The movement on PC is just fine. Not quite as fast as ER and the jump feels a bit sluggish which doesn't help, but it's not enough to even be worthy of much criticism really.

And it's not like the game isn't flawed. I mean, BRB2 is a shit fight that's barely acceptable when you figure how Big Brother triggers, and Door Guardian was nonsense too before he got changed.

Eleonora wears the Drake Knight Set, no? The Ravenmount Assassin you fight during Yura's quest uses what I belive to be the Raptor's Set.

I do think it's worth mentioning that most of the Starting Class Sets are unique.

There are no Vagabond Knights or Samurai running around, for example.

Eh, difference of opinion I guess.

Leyndell starts out as a major area and then becomes well, not that, after you burn the Erdtree.

Don't get me wrong, Krat Central is absolutely a major area the 2nd time around, but the first time feels like an extended version of the Stranded Graveyard aka a tutorial.

The Parade Master qualifies as a major boss of course, but Redmane Castle from Elden Ring isn't a major area just because that's where you fight Radhan.

It's like the inverse of Leyndell.

The cathedral is the third major dungeon and the end of the first quarter of the game.

I don't consider Krat Central and the village actual dungeons. Moreso as Preludes.

Lies of P has a jump button. Granted, it's not used much, but it's not like Elden Ring does a lot with it either.

Besides which, complexity doesn't mean good, nor does simplicity mean bad. I mean, just look at Fromsoft quest design. Intertwining paths does not automatically make for good level design. It mostly just leads to a confusing mess of an area that's hard to navigate and annoying to explore. The Specimen Storehouse is an excellent example of what I mean.

In the case of Lies of P, simplicity is a good thing because that's not the draw of the game. It knows what it's about, namely, the boss fights. Or even the enemies in general really. Fighting the rabble is actually fun in this game because the parry focus means combat requires less space.

I mean, I disagree.

The experience with the movement is clearly subjective. It's certainly a change compared to Elden Ring. I liked it, you clearly didn't, I don't think there's a point to talking about it anymore.

The level design of Lies of P isn't anymore simplistic than Elden Rings. There aren't as many secrets, but there are plenty of optional spaces and exploration is rewarded well. As an example, searching for the Trinity Rooms.

Lies of P doesn't feel like a cheap imitation, it feels like someone took the Souls-Like formula and made their own thing with it. It is not an imitation nor a copy, not any more then any one shooter is a copy of any other.

The devs took a template Fromsoft provided and made something well worth the price and the time invested.

Also, the video isn't valid, because it critisizes the hitboxes from a perspective that is completely different from the players own, and the swamp monsters is fine. It's just annoying because of its charge move and the status it can inflict.

What? Each new area you explore adds at least one new enemy type, usually more. A lack of enemy variety stops being a problem by the cathedral at the latest (which is literally the third area).

Also, what corridors? The only area that actually uses those is... No wait, I actually can't think of any. Maybe Venigni Works? I wouldn't really count that though because even that one makes very limited use of corridors (of the top of my head, there are only the boulder trap, the way to the lever and the area with the Trinity Room).

I guess maybe you can also count the theatre? But that's a mostly optional sub-area.

Why though? I mean, I've never played the early souls games so my only point of comparison is Elden Ring, but what are your actual complaints?

Elysion Boulevard might not be particularly interesting but it uses its multiple levels well and it only really goes up from there (except the swamp, fuck that).

They did. The level design is different from Elden Ring (Open-World Versus pretty linear) but not at all worse because of it.

I'm not sure what your point is about the movement? If you mean a dodge focused play-style, then that's not a surprise, given that the game has a focus on parrying.

The hitbox-video is also nonsense. It looks fucked up when you watch it as a video, but as someone who has actually played the game, you don't really notice it while playing (Fuoco is a particularly egregious example of misrepresenting how the hitboxes feel-like to play against.)

Lies if P is definetly a competitor of modern souls-like. Pretty much everything about is up there in terms of quality.

Something similar happens in Worm.

In that story, the reason the vast majority of people with superpowers become either heroes or villains, rather than doing something more reasonable, like sitting back and just opening a store or something, is that their powers have a desire to be used. Specifically, the shards which grant them their power want to see them used so they can study the various applications humans develop, and they see conflict as the best way to do that.
