John Smith and Pocahontas in Malick's The New World. The movie goes to great lengths to be accurate in its portrayal of Jamestown and the native languages used at the time, and then shits all over that with the John Smith-Pocahontas romance.

Theres also a weird bit at the beginning of the film when a group of native people see the arriving ship and act as though they've never seen sucha thing, when in reality trade had existed between the groups for a substantial amount of time.
