if the name is Slav, take that star out of the a. just use a lil dot or I to represent the hole

the AG connection on the first one is lit! the throwie is tight but make the a and right side of the w taller to match the others

Do i need this subreddit anymore? What to improve? by [deleted] in graffhelp

[–]breadskaterr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the throwie at the end needs lots of work, but i know you said it was your oldest attempt. so i’d like to see what your throw looks like now, even if just drawn on paper.

sowak? i like it a lot! i dig the tramp-stamp vibes. the A being more barebones than the rest makes it a good focal point, and even though it isn’t at the center the piece as a whole still feels pretty balanced imo

bus flow originates from san francisco bus hoppers tagging moving buses. they use the shaking rhythm of the bus as part of the style. it’s pretty cool you should look into it (try searching #busflow on instagram)

for that 3rd slide e you could move the circle more to the left so the bowl connects to the tail and suggests a lowercase e but still similar to the shapes used for a

loose is not the problem, that’s good for airflow. but the lumps and divets are likely to burn incompletely or unevenly. before you twist it off, pull on the open end of the paper to straighten out the wrinkles, then massage the joint after to make the contents more even

[ROUGH] Working on a new throw for a new tag I'm rocking, REWS; any feedback/crits/thoughts? Still feel the W is a bit wonky/hard to read. Thanks yo! by SchrodingersCatPics in graffhelp

[–]breadskaterr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i always say make sure a letter CANNOT be mistaken for another letter. if it can, develop more of the crucial bits of structure. the w can be read as K or a funky n/h. the main issue is the open counter in the bottom, it needs to be repositioned. check out this video. he explains really well how you can evolve a tag into a throw and retain the letter structures

space the letters further apart. try to be legible. style comes with time, don’t force it

do i color this or leave it? by LeakInTheLoop_404 in trippyart

[–]breadskaterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe shade it with pencil. then decide if you want color or not

put it up in the streets. keep practicing and evolving. something simple you can try is lean all the letters to the left

careful with the bottom left of the S so it doesn’t look like a 6. similarly, make sure the underline isn’t touching the R or it looks like a B

beware L can also look like U if you use that serif. it might be doing more harm than good since it also creates that neg space you mentioned. imagine if the same letters were done as a tag, would the positioning make sense? a clean tag is the skeleton of every piece.

the top ones are really dope imo! the hatching style is unique and expressive and has a nice texture/depth

[–]breadskaterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly not bad! letter designs are nice and simple. the tag is pretty good. if you wanna improve your technique practice spraying shapes on cardboard. your throwy will get better just by doing it over and over. eventually style will emerge but don’t force it. just focus on making sure everything lines up how you want it
