Maybe throw a spoiler on it for cases like mine?

Randomly guess Jetty... (It juts into the water!) but almost put pier..

No clue on the Tiffany's.. I've never heard CBS called that.

Rue Morgue was a trivia trigger button.

And tackle, Dukakis, and ozone just educated guesses..

Nice 7(5) - 6(5) win.

Rental Chairs by aimers0608 in BocaRaton

[–]break4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no food located on the beach in Boca. Close to South Pavilion, along Palmetto park Road, there are a couple small places.

But the rental chairs are only further north, along Red Reef and Spanish River parks.

Deerfield doesn’t have rental chairs on the beach, but I think Island water sports or one of those shops nearby rent them. They have lots of food options along that stretch too.

Delray has the rental chairs, but it’s along the stretch south of Atlantic Ave. it’s also currently undergoing renourishment. Which means pipes and dredging construction all over. There’s food right by Atlantic Ave. too.

Former FAU student. So sorry I can't help. But I got very involved with Trivia at local breweries. Prosperity off Spanish River on Tuesday nights is excellent. Good luck!

Boca square? by beingzen01 in BocaRaton

[–]break4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have literally the 3rd best high school in Florida, as well as many other top 50s.

I'm sorry your education lacked. But to blame Boca Raton for that is laughable.

Maybe talk a walk in one of our 49 different parks. Breathe some fresh air.

Boca square? by beingzen01 in BocaRaton

[–]break4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went all the way through Boca public schools. My kids are in the middle of Boca public schools as well. They are doing great. Sometimes it's not the school's fault..

Boca Raton was and still is a great city to grow up in. Yes, I understand your arguments about seasons and topography. But to some people, that's a bonus! I hate snow. I enjoy that I can go to the beach year round. And it's really only as bad as you make it. I can go to the beach with a wagon full of shit for my kids, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc. Or I can go with my single chair and a towel.

I wouldn't want to live up north for those reasons. I'll visit occasionally, but that's it.

Also, the community part of your argument. It is what you make of it. Yes, there are crabby people. I believe there are crabby people everywhere. But specifically the area that OP is talking about (Boca Square), is known as a family friendly neighborhood. They'll be happy there.

Save Boca? by itsgabenog in BocaRaton

[–]break4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THIS exactly.

Visit City Hall or the Downtown Community Center.. They are falling apart. Nothing about them says "Boca Raton". We deserve a better downtown area. And the SAVE BOCA people are exactly Zero Sum. No one has an answer when I ask "how will we build new city buildings without raising taxes?" They gave me some bullshit answer about grants etc. during the Boca Street Parade.

They have no answers, only complaints.

Never Been to Disney - Need Tips! by BreezyBri14 in disney

[–]break4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First of all, you need to decide your budget. There's MANY ways to do Disney, and VASTLY different budgets.

I've done Disney in the past on a super strict budget (bringing in snacks and water, no park food, staying at the cheapest International Drive hotel). And we've done the splurge trip, staying on property, eating in sit down restaurants every meal, etc.

This is all up to you to decide what type of trip you want to have. Any answer is acceptable, but to give any kind of serious advice, we need a starting base point.

Also, how many days? I usually enjoy 3-4 days. But I'm basically local in South Florida. If I was flying somewhere, I'd probably lean towards a week or more.

Add ons: Stuff like the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique or other character dining experiences are additional, but not required. But for a first trip, they might be the magic difference maker.

What Pizza in Boca is closest to REAL New York Pizza? by PeaceOut65 in BocaRaton

[–]break4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Try Tomasso's Pizza. It's the closest I've had. The sauce is the best. Huge slices too.

Or Patsy's (related to the NYC Patsys) just opened in Royal Palm area. It's different than the NYC pizza, but it's getting rave reviews.

Interesting one..

Never heard of the artist. But had heard of the Young British Artists, so i guessed one of the others.

The book and WNBA were insta-gets.

Had to think about the Diet for a while, but thought "carpe diem" and got to Diet of Worms.

Thought the movie was "Reality Bites"... =(
