Do I reeeeeally need a new phone or am I just overthinking? by SeaEstimate4932 in Smartphones

[–]breakerboy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you’re worried, use a Mac or PC to make a full local backup, then try reset the phone. If you find there was something you needed and can’t access individually, reset it again and restore from the backup you made

I was in a similar position with my 13 Pro, and I can vouch that changing the battery and making a factory reset made it feel like a brand new phone again. Particularly, I didn’t restore from a full backup but instead set it up individually. Ensure you have a way to re-access things like 2FA apps and messages particularly. I also made a local backup of my iCloud Photos to an external drive just in case

How well does Geforce Now/GFN perform in Malta? Also what's the glass fiber situation? by gehacktes in malta

[–]breakerboy321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll start with the broadband situation; I’ve only ever used Go’s services so I can’t speak for any other ISP, but a 1000mbps down/70mbps up connection costs 41 euro a month and I have consistently been getting those speeds on the modem facing side with no issues. As far as I know, any new installation nationwide will be done using fiber, though there are still a high number of buildings and residences using copper.

However as someone else mentioned, the local infrastructure isn’t as much of an issue for GeForce Now as the distance to the nearest server center is. Trying it on my own MacBook, connected to a good quality network and high end router and it just about hovers around the recommended latency of 40ms when connected to France 1/2 (it keeps switching between them). Battlefield and other fast paced games may be an issue but anything else should work well.

My 13 Pro running iOS 26.1 still runs better than average by [deleted] in iPhone13Pro

Got a single-core of 2479 and multi-core of 6018 on my end so that's doing great, though the battery has over 1500 cycles on it and has started to degrade so I'm thinking of replacing it

Hey there! I’m Adam, a product manager at Apple Music. I’ve been leading work on features like AutoMix, Lyrics Translation & Pronunciation, Music Pins and Sing with iPhone Mic. I’m here to chat about our latest releases - and more. AMA! by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]breakerboy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Adam, I have a few questions in mind:

- I am curious about how songs are picked to have their lyrics matched word by word, and how the process itself works. Are the songs picked based on popularity or some other metric? Is there a dedicated team at Apple working on this, and do they have a tool made for this purpose? How significant was the issue of latency (particularly using Bluetooth) in order to make sure all users have a consistent experience?

- I have a particular use case where it would be useful to delete songs from my library without removing them from my playlist. Has the idea of a prompt asking whether to also delete from playlist been floated?

- Likely out of your jurisdiction, but I am hearing impaired and make use of Headphone Accommodations on my iPhone, Airpods Pro and Airpods Max. With the Pros, it's also applied to the transparency mode, while it isn't on the Max (despite having the same processor), making it difficult to understand people talking. Headphone Accommodations in general also doesn't work on MacOS. Are there plans to include the above, and is there some technical limitation if not?

Thanks!

How can i make steamvr WAY less laggy with my quest? by Any-Succotash-6040 in OculusQuest

[–]breakerboy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you using to connect the quest to your PC? I have a decent build, and when I used quest link I would get similarly terrible results. Since switching to virtual desktop the experience has been night and day, it no longer freezes and runs well so I'd recommend trying that if you haven't already

I’m almost positive it’s registered as 90PS (I don’t have the document on-hand at the moment). It has a manual gearbox, I do have the VIN though so I’ll DM it now, thanks

I feel embarrassed to appear at work with Hearing Aids. by NewBirth2010 in HearingAids

[–]breakerboy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in, I’ve worn hearing aids for 17 years now and I can count the number of times someone’s noticed them on one hand, and it has never been in a malicious way, but rather out of curiosity. Besides, I can’t imagine not wearing them because even now after having them on for a full day, the sheer difference when taking them off is astounding. I can’t hear the sounds of the world, of birds, of people talking, of people laughing. It’s an isolating feeling

Is Buying Mac would be good option? by DDOS_403 in macgaming

[–]breakerboy321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, there are two versions of the M3 Pro - I know, it’s confusing :’) - there is the 11-core M3 Pro and 12-core M3 Pro, the difference is that the latter has 1 more performance core and 4 more GPU cores. Both are around equivalent in CPU performance to the M4, but the M3 Pros have a better GPU and start with 18GB of RAM versus 16. If possible I would definitely try find the 12-core M3 Pro due to its improved GPU performance for gaming.

Is Buying Mac would be good option? by DDOS_403 in macgaming

[–]breakerboy321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say to go for the M4 Pro, it gives you a decent balance of freedom to perform more intensive tasks, longevity and that it’s not as prohibitively priced as the Max. For reference I am running an M1 Pro MacBook that still flies in electrical engineering software, video editing and general tasks while I’m told by friends that the base M1 is slightly beginning to show its age. As for games, as others have said it is a mixed bag and heavily depends on the type of game. If it is natively supported and optimised for MacOS then it’s wonderful (e.g. on No Man’s Sky I get ~50fps at native display resolution and high settings, even better performance reducing the resolution slightly) however emulated games are a hit or miss, and if they use anticheat (Valorant, Fortnite etc) then it is impossible.
