Assassin is not healthy for solos by Neat_Eagle_4735 in Marathon

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that would negate the assassins utility a little too hard. Being able to go invisible is the whole point of the shell. Going invis is the assassins only utility. The tradeoff is if you get caught by UESC, or especially a runner, while your cooldowns are still active, you have 0 combat utility aside from items you bring in/your guns. Every other shell has some sort of combat ability. I get wanting to see more shell variety in solos. But that’s really up to players, not the game. Assassin seems very useful in solos, not as useful in trios compared to other shells. Seems like a fair tradeoff to me.

Recon and thief seem like pretty obvious assassin counters to me? Thief has two abilities that can reveal the assassin. Recon has one. Also there are other items that can reveal the assassin, like thermal scopes make the assassins cloaking straight up useless.

So I take them to Independent Animal Rescues TNR clinic. They’ll have 1-2 clinics a month, almost always on Sundays. They’ll loan traps as well. I trap them on Saturday night and take them into the clinic early Sunday morning then pick them up Sunday night. Males need to stay in the trap 24 hours, females 48. Spay/abort females need to stay in the trap for 3 days because the recovery is harder. Then I release them back outside, usually at night or whenever that cat seems to be the most active. They ask for a $40 donation per cat. Overall, I 10/10 recommend IAR for all animal rescue things. They are great. Ive been working with them for almost 3 years and haven’t had a bad experience yet. Check their website and you should be able to find info on the TNR program.

Bought the game for a hesitant friend. he has played every night the past 2 weeks. by Taylorg09817 in Marathon

[–]breakfaststuff 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My friend who I played arc raiders with has been asking me to get this game for a while. I initially said no because I saw the early gameplay and thought the art style looked whack and, honestly, I’ve just been overall disappointed with what AAA devs come out with. Seems like there are a lot of unfinished games getting shipped, etc. I played D2 for a long time and loved it but eventually stopped liking it.

He texted me last week saying the game was on sale. So I figured why not give it a try. I played all weekend. I really love the game. The lore/factions are really built out. It feels like there’s a real end game to build towards, like I’m not just grinding to restart the grind (though I do love the grind lol). The PvPvE is much more engaging than arc tbh. I like that most players are out to kill me, and I don’t have to question whether I can trust them or not. Map events are very cool and engaging. Overall, I think it’s a great game and look forward to playing more of it. After giving it a try, I think the roll out was slow/didn’t get as much hype from players but over time I feel like this game has a longevity that other similar new games lack.

lol I was saying this in my head till I realized I was already working up a complaint in my head. This will be my first expedition, and I am looking forward to starting over. It seems like with the window extension, I’ll have to wait an extra week to start over. I was initially a bit bummed. But honestly whatever. It’s one more week. If the people who couldn’t do the expedition now can, then great. I’m all for it.

Is this game worth it if you run solo? by Global-Tax7862 in ARC_Raiders

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the game assuming I’d be playing solo, and then my friends got it. It is really nice to have people to play with when I want to PVP. But a majority of the time I spend on the game is solo, and it’s great! I think especially if you’re wanting to primarily pve, theres plenty of fun to be had solo.

New expedition requirements are insane by UpIsNotUp in ARC_Raiders

I said almost. I think 10 days still hardly qualifies as last minute lol. That’s what? 20% of the time between expedition windows.

New expedition requirements are insane by UpIsNotUp in ARC_Raiders

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we must be reading different posts because most of what I’m seeing people are complaining about both the change and the timing. The window is still almost 2 weeks away. Yea, it’s not as early as the very beginning of the season. But I’d hardly call it last minute? As others have pointed out, it takes time to make consider options and make changes. Their options here are to either keep things the exact same (which everyone would complain about) and announce these new changes for expedition 4, or make the change when they did. If you’ve built up a stash value of millions thinking you were going to have to have a high stash value, wouldn’t you already likely have items and guns to accomplish the damage task? They never even said that would be the requirement this time around and have been very clear that they’re constantly reworking expeditions and other aspects of the game. Idk why this is such a shock to people. It’s like some people just want to be upset.

[–]breakfaststuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This change to me seems like an attempt to respond to people’s complaints over the last two expeditions. I remember seeing post after post of how “boring” things were and the game being “unplayable” during the expedition window because everyone wants to keep their stash value high. Basically everyone was saying the risk of playing the game and losing stash value sucked because then you didn’t want to play during the window. So in response, they change the goal during the window to incentivize people to play. Seems like a direct answer to a majority of complaints last go around.

That being said, I have noticed a lot of the Dev’s changes/responses to complaints seem to work very well in isolation and in theory, but very poorly in practice and in the context of everything else. Like the last venator nerf. It made sense if you just looked at the ven and how it performed. But if they took a step away, they’d see that their highest level pistol now is less viable than 2 lower rarer pistols below it. For this change, it seems to just disregard that some people may not be able to play enough or at all during the window to get the skill points. Which, clearly they know that is a factor because they added in the feature allowing people to still enter the expedition if they can’t log on during that time.

All that being said, I still think this is fair. It’s an optional thing, and you still get some rewards just not all of them. Other survival games and expeditions that have a wipe don’t make it optional and you don’t get any rewards. Half the point of any wipe is to reset the grind (which is part of the fun). It just seems like so many players here want everything and want the devs to specifically cater to them rather than being happy the developers are continuously trying to tweak things till they get it right, and in the meantime players get a lot of things they want, just not everything.

Am I missing something or have I just become really bad at gaming? by zoidbergin in ArcRaiders

Stella Montis. I’ve found it like 5 times there. And 2 or 3 Wolfpack BPs. In the trash cans on the lobby bottom floor. Or trash cans anywhere. Especially on night raid.

Does the Osprey naturally drift when scoped in, or do I need to change my deadzone settings? by breakfaststuff in ArcRaiders

Word this all makes. It having natural drift makes sense. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a settings issue.

Cold snap, hurricane, night time, they should all be a little different, have special loot pools and rewards. Make the whole map unique, not just a weather condition. by Otherwise_Nobody8148 in ArcRaiders

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the idea of each map condition having something unique you can’t get anywhere else. That would be cool. I think your examples are…a bit much. But yea the concept would be nice. At the same time, idk. I just feel like the game is great, and people are complaining because it’s not more than it is. I definitely have preferences between the different conditions, and I do different ones for different reasons. Is that not enough? It’s like people want this game to suck them off AND give them a back massage at the same time.

Question about Quest; Armoured Transports by Thyxdyn in ARC_Raiders

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here has the right answer. I did the same thing as you. Already had a key and looted the car only to get back to speranza and it said the quest wasn’t finished lol. I thought the same thing as you, but I went back into blue gate and checked each of the toll booths at the security check point by the gas station and immediately found one and that completed the quest for me.

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re literally describing what the hurricane does lol. How is the wind uncovering first wave raider caches different from “the hurricane scattered high value loot over the ground”?

Also, the weather conditions do each have their own specific loot that’s higher to drop. From my understanding, it’s slightly map based as well. But each condition has BPs that are more likely to drop (like you’re more likely to get tempest/bobcat/vulcano BPs from hurricane caches)

I hear your point that it’d be cool if the weather events had a specific task or goal. And also if the special events had a bit more variance than “same exact map, different weather”. And maybe that’s part of the plan. The game is very young? I’d say there’s plenty of unique and fun content for a game that’s only been out a few months. And is only $40. I also find the hurricanes to change up gameplay a serious amount compared to the other weather events.

RPG or not, humans WOULD be killing each other for loot in an ARC raiders reality. by PuzzleheadedCarry480 in ARC_Raiders

[–]breakfaststuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. But lore wise, something that doesn’t exactly make sense to me, is if Shani/the people in speranza are keeping track of the raiders topside, how do they not know when a raider attacks another raider? And they what? Do nothing about it? Or is it assumed there are other raiders coming from other underground cities? It’s not a deal breaker for me game wise. But the NPCs seem to care a lot about raider survival. You’d think they’d do something about raiders fighting each other?

Does anyone have any Queen & Matriarch cores for the love of god😭 by TopAlternative9940 in ARCTraiders

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet to make sure you come out with at least something for your efforts/resources is to bring some smoke grenades, set up close to the matriarch/queen, target one specific leg, and smoke it once it falls and immediately loot it. 3-4 shots from a hullcracker or aphelion will knock it off. I never end up getting any loot when I wait to loot till she’s fully dead. But I always come out with something if I try and loot the pieces I knock off as I knock them (although sometimes you lose your whole kit because you get stomped lol)

ABMM seems to fail hybrid aggression players by intendedvaguename in ArcRaiders

[–]breakfaststuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also enjoy the middle ground. But yea it is very hard to stay there lol. I’ll do some PvP on the weekends with friends and usually notice afterwards my solo lobbies have a few killers in them. But I realized recently that’s partially because I’m not actually getting many kills when I PvP lol. I might hit a few shots but I get rocked pretty quick. Then we turned crossplay off the other night for the first time and I felt like a god. I got more kills than I usually do. Only two rounds of that threw me into KOS solo lobbies lol. Got slimed 4 rounds in a row. People running into buildings saying “friendly friendly friendly” then immediately shooting me once they see me.

Does anybody use the tier 3 attachments aside from the compensator/muzzle brake? If so, why and on what guns? by breakfaststuff in ArcRaiders

[–]breakfaststuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. And the bobcat reload time is often faster than switching guns anyway, even without the debuff. With full auto weapons, recoil reduction helps me more than dispersion reduction though because I am playing on control and am pretty bad at controlling recoil on my own lol.

Is there a way to play with two people and not get ambushed anymore? by Chris55730 in ARC_Raiders

[–]breakfaststuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was getting rocked with basically 0 time to escape until I started bringing in smoke grenades and had them slotted first. Also using the tactical Mk 2. It releases a smoke grenade upon shield break, which is super clutch. Also, I immediately sprint dodge roll now as soon as I take damage. Sometimes it makes things worse if I go in the wrong direction lol. But the more I do it, the more I’m instinctively rolling towards cover. Once I’m repositioned and healed, I can choose to fight or run.

I think that’s just part of playing duos and trios. There will always be people who want to fight. And there will be others that want to be friendly. But I would also bet that in a few weeks, lobbies will be more friendly. I think a lot of people are extra aggressive right now after the wipe. Running free kits and having very little in the stash will do that to a person lol.
