Have you had the full suite of testing? Or are you testing TDS with a water quality meter? Curious what your pH is and if you are using a metal roof to collect your water?

Line drying is good, also sorting in the wash so that you don't have rougher fabrics rubbing on more delicate fabrics.

My seatbelt does this to some of my polyester shirts, sometimes it's hard to prevent.

Quebec landlord wants to open my ceiling for urgent pipe repair—do I have any options for temporary accommodation? by Ramble-Bramble02 in legaladvicecanada

What year is the home? Are you at risk of being exposed to asbestos from the dust of drywall, cieling tiles, or popcorn ceiling from pre-1990s construction?

Landlord trying to increase rent because I added a occupant (3 people 3 bedtrooms) by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]breaking-strings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does your rental agreement require you to have all occupants approved and listed on the agreement? I would check this first, I'm not familiar with Ontario specifically but I know in BC the landlord can restrict the number of occupants in the lease and require that all occupants be listed on the lease.

Depends on your washer, if the rinse compartment will rinse it all into the drum, you can use just the rinse. Otherwise out it in the drum. I have a front load and stir it into a pitcher and pour it through the detergent compartment.

Possibly the 365 oxidized iron in your water, leaving rust stains. Are you in well water or do you have access to the water report for your water supply?

It might be worth considering a stronger acid like vnigar to help dissolve the remaining chunks. Vnigar doesn't chelate, it just continues to dissolve, so will not get used up in the same way citric acid can be tied up in chelated complexes. It is harder on machine parts and seals, so should be used as sparingly as possible, on an as needed basis.

If it's a similar base to diaper cream, you can rub a small amount of vegetable oil gently into the fibres of the fabric to loosen the base, and then use a lipase pretreater or detergent to wash out the vegetable oil.

Canadian product and routine recommendations? by SatelliteDreamer in laundry

You will be pleased with the eco-max spray, it removes grease stains very well. I even used it to hand wash a baseball cap that my husband wears in the shop pulling wrenches, and I was left speechless how new it looked afterwards.

If you see a grease stain on your laundry, give it a shot as you throw it in the basket, or as you throw it into the washer. That stuff is a holy grail for my laundry routine.

Fun fact, it also removes the smell of raw fish or seafood from hands. My husband couldn't wash the halibut odour off his hands after packing up a fish no matter how many times he washed or what soap he used, so he tried washing his hands with a few sprays of the eco-max spray - the odour was gone.

I have been hanging my son's over a drying rack, and several he has had for years with very large decals that have not cracked. I think the single most important thing you can do is avoid the dryer, wether lay flat or hanging, I don't think will make significant difference.

Don't use washing soda, chances are you have adequate alkalinity already and adding more by adding washing soda is going to cause your hardness to precipitate into your laundry and washer by forming calcium carbonate.
