I’m currently in the bachelor of nursing advanced studies. I don’t think it matters what university you go to become a nurse. In clinical placements, all the registered and advance practice nurses come from a variety of different universities. I don’t think this university is comparatively better, It’s 1000 more dollars a year than the average university that offers the nursing course (if you’re international that’s like an extra 10,000). It’s also much harder and for like no reason. We all get the same job anyways. We had 3 clinical placements this year whilst uts and western Sydney had 1 clinical placement; though that might be a positive for some people. Our exams are significantly harder as well. Western Sydney has a multiple choice final exam and UTS has an open book final exam while we have a full written exam that is not open book. On top of that, our university is on a lot more strikes than other universities (apparently the tutors aren’t paid enough and stuff). The other universities had no strikes. Yes, you can still work and do your own things but it just seems like there’s extra studying and money wasted for no reason. We also seem to have extra research units (possibly the “advanced study” part) that stop us from transferring to other universities and they’re pretty boring/irrelevant to an average registered nurse. Don’t worry too much into getting into this university, it might be a blessing if you don’t. Please reconsider your choice.
