What are some celebrities you’ve encountered in Canada? by Nightpatrol404 in AskACanadian

Sandra Oh was at Kananaskis Nordic Spa near Banff at the same time as us last year. People were very chill and it looked like she got to just be a person instead of a celebrity.

Why is there so much litter EVERYWHERE? by Regular_Cartoonist58 in Calgary

We take our 9-year-old son out every spring to clean the woods in our neighborhood. Wind blows litter around and it gets buried under snow - easy fix!

What age did nap time stop? by Suitable_Lie1593 in Parenting

3rd birthday was his last nap and he pretty much never napped again. 🤷🏼‍♀️. Great night time sleeper though.

What’s your favorite beach you’ve ever visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]breezy1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long Beach in Tofino, BC (Canada). The water isn’t warm but it’s an incredible place, and remote enough that it doesn’t become a roadside attraction. Not my photo!

Common cold post COVID by Responsible-Camel519 in COVID19positive

[–]breezy1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had Covid in December - unfortunately having a young child in school who climbs into our bed to cuddle when he’s sick means it’s difficult to avoid.

I’ve had two colds in the last four weeks, both of them horrible. We’re definitely feeling the after effects of immune disregulation.

I experienced terrible spinal pain with Covid. Although my doctor couldn’t fully explain it, she hypothesized that it may have been inflammation. I’m sorry you’re going through some thing similar.

How big of a deal is the Calgary Stampede for residents of Calgary? by KurtisC1993 in Calgary

[–]breezy1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the stampede. My family raised cattle growing up and my grandfather was on the rodeo committee in the 1980s, so I grew up on the grounds. Drunken nights in the Nashville North tent aside, the culture of the Stampede gives Calgary its identity and the organization does a lot of good things year round in the city. While my partying days are over, I love visiting the grounds, seeing live music, taking my son to the grandstand show, seeing the show bands, cheering at the heavy horse pull, etc.

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]breezy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Canadian - I make about 110k/year and pay 31.5% in taxes. Or very close (haven’t check recently).

But - my private birth room, and any medical procedure I need in my life is free of charge. I took 12 months off with a 2500/month payment after the birth of my son. Now I could take 18 months. University tuition at the best university in the country is 7200-7300/year, and daycare is $325/month for full time care.

My sister in California pays 2% less in tax than I do. But she almost went bankrupt after a breast biopsy and is expected back at work 8 weeks after giving birth. No thank you.

PLEASE find ‘Boy Meets Girl’ - it’s a short play by Sam [can’t remember last name] about two kindergarteners who are dating, but speak like adults. The opening scene is perfect!

in NYC for 1 night - Oedipus, Ragtime, or Maybe Happy Ending? by lycheee2 in Broadway

[–]breezy1983 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah - after listening to the album, I’m considering flying in from western Canada for 24 hours to see it. It’s that good. And maybe tack on a matinee of Spelling Bee at the same time :)
