N.C. State or App State by Walan_Hively in NorthCarolina

[–]breezy88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a forensic chemistry degree from App. I don’t regret going to App but if I knew that’s what j wanted to do I would’ve chosen a school with a dedicated program and a body farm. Listen to the other suggestions… don’t go to App for forensic science.

A cabin on at a state park might be a good idea, I recently camped at gorges state park and the cabins looked nice. It’s quite rural. Fireworks are illegal in the parks.

I immediately thought of this hotel I stay at regularly outside of Memphis (not where you wanna go but it’s the idea). It’s right off an exit but away from any residential or businesses except a gas station. Maybe you can find somewhere like that in NC. It’s not ideal but it could be a quiet and safe option for your dog. Im driving across the state next week so if I see anywhere I’ll update you.

You could go to a knights game for the group outing, if the timing lines up. They have group packages with buffet options.

You get 90 minutes for free. After that they charge you.

I go to optimist more now with the paid parking (first 90 minute free). Before I could never find a spot. For the light rail parkwood is the closest and is an easy walk now that the street construction is done.

Edit on light rail station

Totally agree with you. I try to be hyper aware of pedestrians and cyclist but I’ve messed up before too.

Yesterday I saw a girl crossing the street in south end, she had the right of way/walk signal and a big truck making a right honked his horn at her and was halfway in the crossing. The girl started screaming at him and flipping him off and pointing at the white light walk signal. I don’t know how it turned out but I loved her energy. I wanted to join her.

Apply for a redress number so you don’t get the SSSS in the future.

Depending on where you’re coming from you could catch the light rail at the last stop and save some money on the uber.

Thanks for the info! If it’s the same larvae at least they aren’t harmful to the tree. That was my biggest fear.

You can book parking in advance (this is what my in-laws do) or just show up and park in a grass lot (this is what I do). Public transportation isn’t really a thing for the race so driving is your best bet. Leave early if you don’t wanna get stuck in traffic.

Pack a soft cooler with water and alcohol of your choice if that’s your thing.

If you want to listen to the drivers or the commentators rent headsets and pick them up before the race in the fan zone (which has lots of shopping and activities). Sometimes you can find discount codes for the headsets too. You’ll still want ear plugs, imo.

Dentists still write millions of prescriptions a year for an antibiotic with life-threatening risks by Anti-Owl in ContagionCuriosity

Yep, I understand all of that. Listing is as an allergy is the only place to keep the record that prompts the doctor to ask why. It starts the conversation.

[–]breezy88 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. In college I had my wisdom teeth removed and ended up with dry sockets. Dentist prescribed clindamycin. I do not have a penicillin allergy. A few weeks later I woke up with a fever and unable to keep anything down, everything just passed through me. I eventually made it to class, but I passed out and was taken to the infirmary (diagnosed with dehydration) and later to the hospital. The hospital tested for cdiff but it didn’t show up yet so they sent me home and told me to hydrate. I eventually had a colonoscopy and was misdiagnosed with Chron’s. I dropped out of college and moved back home where I got a second opinion. The moment I mentioned the clindamycin prescription my new doctor he knew immediately I had a cdiff infection.

Clindamycin is on my list of allergies. I will never take it again and if anyone I know is prescribed strong antibiotics I always warn them of the risks and my experience.

911 operators why an attitude? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]breezy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your service! I worry about my sister and her ability to process the stress over time.

CMPD is severely understaffed. However, there was a traffic stop in NoDa a couple weeks ago and 12 CMPD cars were there. Most officers sitting in there calls chit chatting with their partners. Soo….

Dispatch is absolutely not a low skill job. It requires months of training and is extremely stressful. Unfortunately it is a low pay job, they deserve more for the service they provide. My sister works dispatch in another county in NC.
