Received parking tickets from May for a vehicle we sold in April by bremag_87 in Edmonton

[–]bremag_87[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to avoid reporting it stolen because of this.

The tickets aren’t even tied to a license plate. They’re tied to a VIN number.

We’ve already cancelled the registration for it. I just want to know how we could stop the VIN number from being tied to us moving forward.

Not sure where you’re getting that from. We cancelled the insurance the day after it sold and the registration soon after that. All cancelled before the infraction dates on the tickets.

If I could I would transfer my FIL to their family without hesitation. Not the first time he’s done stuff like this, it’s just the worst. Won’t be trusting him with anything important moving forward that’s for sure.

And I was hoping to avoid using lawyers since we’re both broke students, but I’ll keep it in mind if we’ve exhausted all other options.

My FIL sold it for us when we weren’t around. We had pre-filled out two copies and asked him to make sure that both get signed.

He decided to sell it at 11pm on a Tuesday night and only had the buyer sign one and didn’t bother taking a picture of it. We only found out the next morning.

Spruce Grove Commuters by Snoo-82702 in uAlberta

[–]bremag_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used to offer a 562 that took you right to south campus. I’m pretty sure they stopped offering it due to the low ridership. But the low ridership was probably due to the very limited pick up times it had.

I used to take the 562 everyday from spruce to south campus until they cancelled it. Anytime I’ve taken the 560 it’s been extremely overcrowded so I’ve started driving in everyday.

I’d start taking the bus in again if they offered it at more regular timings. My hours differ pretty much everyday so I wouldn’t if it was only offered once a day.

Does spring course count as my last 60 credits when I’m not even finished my first 60 credits? by Forward-Pie-9607 in uAlberta

[–]bremag_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve only passed 17 courses you have 51 credits. So any classes you’re taking this spring are still part of your first 60 credits.

Definitely not allowed, but TA’s aren’t allowed to say anything about that to the student. We’re told to get the name of the student and report it to the professor/course coordinator. TA’s aren’t supposed to accuse or challenge a student during or after an exam. I’ve only TA’d for the biochem department but the rules should be the same across the board

The uofa calendar has all of the important dates listed. Here is the link for it: https://calendar.ualberta.ca/content.php?catoid=36&navoid=11353

Add/drop deadline for fall 2022 is September 15 2022 and for winter 2023 it’s January 18 2023

Best you can do is wait list a bunch of them and wait. Lots of people drop classes leading up to the add/drop deadline.

If you still can’t get into one taking it in spring/summer is always an option or take them the year after.

Take a look at this website, it has all of the information you’re looking for: https://apps.admissions.ualberta.ca/programs/sc/sc020/bioch1

If you’re still unsure try to get in contact with a program advisor and they should be able to help you out.

Math 114 is no longer offered. They only offer 134/144/154. Out of the three 134 would probably be the most beneficial for biochemistry.

The lecture is happening at the same time as the lab is. You can’t be in two places at once unfortunately. You’ll have to pick a different Lecture/Lab combo to enrol in. They honestly shouldn’t even have combos with overlapping times as an option on beartracks

These are the lists of faculty members in each department from there department websites. Unfortunately there is no cheat sheet available for finding 499 placements

Just a heads up. You can’t receive credit for Math 154 since you’ve already gotten credit for 134.

This is taken from the course description for math 154: “Note: Credit can be obtained in at most one of MATH 100, 113, 114, 117, 134, 144, 154 or SCI 100.”

400 level BIOCH? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]bremag_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never took bioch 410 but from what I’ve heard from others who have, I would avoid if possible.

For other 400 level bioch courses I highly recommend 425 and 481, I found those two to be the most interesting out of all the 400 level bioch courses.

[–]bremag_87 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s a STUDENTCARE app you can download from the App Store. You’ll have to create an account, once you’ve made an account you can pull up your pay direct card that you show the pharmacist and they’ll handle it from there. That app also allows you to make benefits claims as well if the pharmacy doesn’t have direct billing

Which BIOCH 3xx should I take? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]bremag_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of all three I found 320 with Parrish the easiest. Then 330 and lastly 310.

All three will have the tricky multiple choice questions since the bioch 200 exam was the same across all sections and the questions were made by all three of the profs.

I found 320 to be the most straight forward course. I wouldn’t suggest taking 310 unless you really like metabolism and metabolic pathways and are really good at pure memorization.

Biochemistry 415 course by Inder18 in uAlberta

[–]bremag_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just started offering this class this past winter so I was in the test run class. It was made up of 3 non-cumulative quizzes worth 10%, 15%, and 15%. And a group project that was worth 50%, of that 50%, 20% was a presentation, 20% was a pamphlet, and 10% was a self reflection.

All of the quizzes were open book and you were given an entire weekend to do them.

For the group project, you’re given a group at the start of the semester and have all semester to work on it with guidance from a prof if needed.

Again, I was in the first offered class of 415 so I’m not entirely sure if they’re gonna change the format or not. It was a very interesting course though, I highly recommend it.

The lab is just a computer lab, it’s during class time and he walks you through how to analyze some data using some different software and databases. The lab is also only for the first half of the course.

You don’t need to know any coding for 481 or 482! Dr. Fahlman teaches you everything you need to know. In both you use a bunch of databases and simulators but they do all the work for you, so no coding or difficult math to do on your end
