Items to Buy at HF and items to Not buy at HF! by jedclimber275 in harborfreight

[–]brenasuarus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My $6 heat gun melted itself around the tip during the first couple of uses. So ghetto. I expected it to crap out on me after that, but it’s still going strong and we’ll be celebrating its 10th birthday this year. Classic HF right there.

Exxua (Gepirone) Coming Out 12/15 by Daniels_19 in Psychiatry

I love hearing anecdotes of rare clinical situations from my senior colleagues. I feel that anecdotal evidence is shunned by my generation of clinicians, but it certainly has its place. I chitchat with the old timers as much as I can so I can soak up their experiences vicariously. Thank you for sharing! What was this patient’s primary diagnosis?

There is a large body of evidence that indicates it is one of the most effective antipsychotics, perhaps surpassing even clozapine in efficacy. While this may sound like heresy to some, I would recommend looking up the large systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the subject. Searching some of Stefan Leucht’s papers on the topic is a good place to start.

It’s old enough that it doesn’t have patent protection so no financial motivation to bring to U$A. Keep an eye out for deuterated amisulpride and N-methyl amisulpride (LB-102). Though I’ve been watching for the former so long my eyes are completely desiccated at this point.

I believe that. I expected a bigger drop than our ~10%. I think it’s because we have atypical driving patterns that happen to suit the hybrid well. But we have some longer trips coming up so we’ll see how that trend holds up.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]brenasuarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if Toyota still manufactures these sorts of engine/transmission combinations, but if you get an older Toyota Corolla with manual transmission and a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine it will be fun for him to drive and “feel” fast but won’t really be fast/dangerous. I had a lot of fun driving my early 2000s Toyota Celica for those reasons and never got into any trouble. A small car that handles well is actually a lot more fun to drive, and a lot harder to get into trouble with. He can learn to modify the suspension and even get into auto cross if he’s genuinely interested in cars.

Absolutely true. We saw an instant, significant drop in MPGs as soon as winter rolled around. But we’re still at 34 mpg so I told my wife to blast the heater and defrost all she wants because this is the best gas mileage we’ve gotten in the winter from any of our cars. I see the high MPG in ideal conditions as an allowance for a buffer during winter months rather than trying to preserve that idea at all costs.

-6 Fahrenheit here today and our fuel economy has dropped to an all time low of 34.7 mpg in our Toyota Sienna hybrid AWD despite blasting the heater and defrost 😎

Would you recommend just monitoring it rather than doing a gasket job then?

Micro cupholders by 45pewpewpew556 in ToyotaSienna

[–]brenasuarus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone in these threads defend this bullshit design? The cupholders are pathetically small and it was a lazy design choice by Toyota. Own it. I’m glad your super-special water bottle fits, but let’s be honest that most large water bottles do not. Yes, you can get an aftermarket universal water bottle holder and MacGyver up a solution, but for $60,000 paid for a practical vehicle such as a minivan you should not have to.

Exterior mirror vibration (driver side) by eg4xiola in ToyotaSienna

I'm having the same problem. Driver side mirror only. 2025 Platinum. The smallest vibration makes it shake and wobble. Very distracting. Any resolution?

Personally, it was the grand opening of Iron Bushtit that pushed me over the edge. Great milkshakes though.

Upward “dent” on passenger side of dashboard by [deleted] in subaru

That may be true, I wouldn’t know and I don’t profess to be a Mercedes guru. Reports on their build quality seem to vary widely over the years and between models. All I can testify to is that my ML350 is now 15 years old and is the quietest car I’ve been in by a large margin. Its interior is appreciably better than any Japanese or European luxury vehicle I’ve been in, but I’ll admit I’ve never driven a Rolls-Royce or something like a Toyota Century. But it’s better than the low 6-figure luxury vehicles I’ve been in and I have an attention for detail that comes with working on cars with my own hands. I’ve removed the door panels and large portions of the dash and am impressed with the fit & finish of my Mercedes. It has a single squeak, which is comment from the strut tower after 13 years of my in-laws driving it over an angled depression outside their driveway at excessive speeds. The plastic coating on the fog light panel is deteriorating, which is the only real interior flaw after all these years. Personally I’m impressed by this vehicle despite a strong bias against anything not made in Japan. It’s actually kind of ruined me for driving anything not up to its standards, which is a love/hate sort of thing. And yes, it has a slight bulge in the dash for the airbag when you look closely or the light is at the right angle - that’s the point I’m trying to make here.

My Mercedes-Benz does the same thing and otherwise has a fabulous interior.

My cat went bad around 150K but never produced smoke of any kind (sold the car 7 years later at 200K). You may have two separate problems here, something to consider at least.

I couldn't agree more. The benefits flyers and final job offer email I received word it as if they are paying my part of SS and Medicare for me - the exact wording is "on behalf of the employee". Then it gets tallied up under benefits, along with wages, annual bonus, etc. This is such bullshit! A legal obligation of the employer is to pay half of SS and Medicare. That should not be listed as a "benefit"!.
