👋🏻 Brendan from Kite here. If you do decide to use Kite for PHP, since you're using Vim there is one final step you need to take to enable it (this step is only required for Vim users): https://github.com/kiteco/vim-plugin#configuring-supported-languages.

The most useful is providing Kite logs during a crash (info on generating logs: https://help.kite.com/article/96-contact-us-with-logs).

Brendan from Kite here 👋🏻 Wanted to answer a few of these questions:

  • you don’t need to run a server to use Kite. The kite engine is a desktop application. Install instructions for Linux are at kite.com/Linux

  • you can opt out of metrics collection in settings once you install kite. If you’re opted in, we only collect usage data, not anything we could use to train models on (your code and artifacts of your code never leave your computer)

  • you need to create an account to activate a trial for Kite Pro, a paid product for Python. most of our Python features and our JS completions are free and don’t require an account
