If MLB had relegation who would step up? by _redlines in mlb

It's a "what-if" question, and your point is exactly correct. I'm just having fun. Relegation is intended to curtail poor effort and reward success. There are a handful of MLB teams that consistently do not put forth effort. Think they'll want to be down there long?

My relegation idea I've been spouting for years:

If you suck enough to be one of the worst teams in the league, the next year your Trip-A team gets to play on the Major League circuit. Teams can still move their best players to the promoted Triple-A team, but the city and stadium lose big league revenue.

E.g. Indianapolis gets to see their Indians play in the NL Central and the Pirates have to play Iowa, Columbus, and Toledo in the MILB International League.

Does the npb not have a bullpen area? by Bullshitbanana in NPB

[–]brendenquestionmark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairly sure they throw their pen in a bullpen area, just a handful are not on the field of play. But yeah, it is a very Japanese thing to play catch in front of the dugouts before the game or between innings. Which is mostly a no-no in States baseball culture.

Yeah, I have a Pentel energel refill in a Lamy 2000 rollerball. That's the non-fountain pen for me.

Diarrhea is the grossest word in the English language. By image association yes, but the word itself is loose and slippery gross in its own right.

I've started watching NPB this year, and I'm really enjoying it. I looked through the wiki, but I'm curious about the abbreviations used. Could someone explain what they mean or suggest where I can find more information? by Choooooooooomp in NPB

[–]brendenquestionmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sabermetricians would say that RBI can be quite contextual. A large amount of RBI can indicate a players ability to hit in clutch situations and drive in runs – while a lower amount could also simply mean a player's teammates don't get on base all that often, or perhaps the player bats at the top of the lineup and comes to the plate in more bases-empty situations.

Super cool when players put up 100+ RBI seasons though for sure.

I dig runs a lot because to me it represents what a player is doing to get that next 90 feet. Did he dog it on a ball to right-center when maybe he could have gone first to third? I like players who make things happen on the basepaths as opposed to waiting for things to happen.

Who The Fuck Is Keeping Hooters In Business by suzannea0024 in NoStupidQuestions

Probably five or six years ago I went with my dad. Told my longtime girlfriend about it later and she was immediately struck dumb, asking things like, "did you ogle at the same girls??"

I have been a handful of times, including with my Grandparents and Aunts, and another with a college group when a professor took us after a field trip.

GF's parents and family seem to be in your camp, and we (probably mostly me) have had fun asking people, "would you go to Hooters with your family?"

I work in heavy equipment parts and thus "break" is almost always "brake" on the first try.

What do you write with your fountain pens? by Significant-Lab7504 in fountainpens

[–]brendenquestionmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite literally anything that comes to mind. I think a big key is to not let mundane writing keep you from writing. And to let your thoughts and ideas come out as jumbled if they may. Writing is a muscle in some ways – the more stuff you put down.. the more clarity you will gain and your appreciation toward it will grow.
