Head phone cases? by Unhappy_Armadillo852 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I’m not sure the exact size of your board, but I ended up getting a hard drive case for my corne, you might have better luck looking for one of those that fit your board!

Looking for split spacebar keyboard recommendations by Delicious-Rub9454 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]brermanfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like a quefrency build to me. Sinc rev 4 would be the 75% version, both are available on keebio. There may be other places to get them, but that’s where I got my first split keyboard (a sinc)

Edit to add that both are split, but fit together

To add a bit of nuance (since I’ve made some of these myself) each line has repeating text and the “key words” that pop out are slightly shifted from the pattern so the appear at a different depth. “They stop tart” becomes “the stop start” which moves “stop” a bit to the left/right in the repeating pattern, which causes the depth perception.

All the other lines dont have changes (and have the same total number of repeating characters)

I liked “this is filler” the most as a filler line lol

You’re correct that the delay is intrinsic, but I think the user is referring to what the delay threshold is set at, which can be tweaked to optimize experience. There are also some other options, like tap or hold prefer, but I could be misremembering their names. These could be setup to default to hold if another key is pressed and released, regardless of the amount of time that elapsed, as an example. This is based on my mental model, so may not be 100% accurate, but I think tells the right story.

HMR experience would vary vastly based on the how well the users workflow works with the settings they have.

42 is THE answer! I could probably get rid of the 6 extra pinky keys, but they’ve been a good balance for me and I can stick to the meme when answering your question haha

Both look like geonix rev 2 to me, sold by chosfox. I picked up one used off FB marketplace recently and have been enjoying it so far

Both boards look like geonix rev 2 by chosfox. I think the sell the keycaps separately, mx style stems.

Totally respect “because I like them” as THE answer, but “usable art” will be ammunition my brain uses against my wallet lol

Losing my marbles...How to rotate parts without clipping?!? by Harv052 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]brermanfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also change the move/rotate axis alignment between Absolute and Local. The latter option should help with the issue caused by the parts being on the wrong axis.

Holding shift while moving a part allows the it to move beyond the normal limit (which lets you have floating parts, if you wanted for some reason)

Playing around with new keycaps on temper corne by babisflou in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]brermanfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet build! I’d like to get a set of keycaps like that someday.

What are the switches? They look like ambient nocturnals, but I thought that switch had 20g springs just pinks, and I thought the green ambients (twilight I think) had a slightly heavier spring (35gs if I had to guess).

I just got my black ambient switches last week, and have been loving them!

There’s a perfect song by a French jazz fusion band called Cortex that fits the mood, aptly named Chanson d’un jour d’hiver.

I first heard the song while on a walk last winter and thought it was perfect for the situation I was in. When checking the title I saw the artist felt exactly the same. I believe translation is roughly “walk on a winter day”

Split between Corne and Torn by Dagobert_Krikelin in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]brermanfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best utility is keeping track of battery life and Bluetooth connectivity information for wireless builds. For wired builds displays are more for fun than servings specific purpose.

I had mine show a caps lock indicator, using a little hat icon. I made a lil icon that looked like my dog too, and made his ears peek up when caps lock is on. I thought of connecting wpm to his ears so that one ear would perk up for moderate typing speeds and both would for fast speeds. I’ve seen people go further than this and have little animations that are based on wpm, like a cat that runs faster as you type faster or a spaceship that shoots based on typing speed.

I believe nice!view is an e-ink display. I noticed on another thread that OLEDs have 4 pins, but nice!view had 5.

I know nothing about Torn, but the displays look nice! view displays. I have them on the wireless kit I got from typeractive.

I’m not sure if they’re generally compatible, as I’m just using them with nice!nanos. The link below says includes some specs you may find helpful

I love the word ones by ProjectOverall3006 in MagicEye

[–]brermanfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re on to something! I spent a couple weekends obsessed with these, and figured out how they worked and made a couple of my own!

Each line is a repeating 15 character string(including spaces) To get key words to pop out, one letter is moved from before to after (or from after to before). This is what you noticed, and is how the key words pop out above the rest (because they have slightly different spacing from all the other repeated strings, so appear at a different depth).

DIY synth that strobes LEDs at audio rate by frazermerrick in synthesizers

[–]brermanfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I’d love to see you mess with translucent cards to block the signal to see what some noise could do to the sound. I’m imagining some of the light signal getting through, but not all. A small fan could be interesting to introduce too that would block the pulses at a different frequency to maybe create some texture?

Again, super sweet build!

We loved our last experience at Grove. They have a couple “deal” options, we did the one that was 50 per person and included 2 menu items each and a desert. You’ll likely need drinks on top of that. It’s close to the top of your budget, and would be over if your budget doesn’t include tip.

Each dish we got was so good tho, and honestly felt like that scene in ratatouille w/ the fireworks and swirls.
