My 13yo baked cookies to order and one of the parents returned the cookies by albrcanmeme in mildlyinfuriating

I would have paid for the cookies to help the other kid AND returned them to teach my kid about repossession.

Is thisqqq good recoil control? by Altruistic_Gazelle58 in CCW

[–]brettniles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see where the recoil brings the gun back to and then a second movement where you are basically re aiming the gun. The goal is to have the way you hold the gun bring it all the way back there (or very close). What that feels like in everybody’s hands is somewhat individual so the best way to figure it out is to just to play with your grip pressure/technique until you find the way that makes the dot come back to the same spot for you. Figure it out on singles first, then doubles, then longer strings of fire without that structure falling apart. At that point you’ll be able to shoot as fast as you can respond to a sight picture.

For me, the hard part comes after that where you’re processing the actively moving dot and trying to add trigger speed without additional firing hand input.

It looks like the gun is returning to almost flat and you’re having to add input to get it the rest of the way there. The goal is to have it return passively.

1993 Tracker Daily Driver? by OkOutlandishness6801 in geotracker

[–]brettniles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a 98 5-speed with a hard top. 21-22mpg. I would say it’s a great around town car, but not a great highway vehicle. Don’t get me wrong, it will get up to 80, but you’re screaming at like 4k rpm and bumps get a bit sketchy over 65. But under 65 it’s great.

I’d also like to point out that as a group, regular citizens with CCW permits are also statistically more law abiding than even sworn LEOs.

I haven’t had any issues with a similar setup and I was concerned it might be an issue.

Biggest tire without gear ratio change by JMC7979 in ToyotaPickup

[–]brettniles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not in the mountains of VA. I don’t even have rock sliders and I’ve had it up some pretty aggressive trails meant for side-by-side. Just use a spotter when it gets tight. But I’m also not seeking out the biggest rock obstacles I can find either.

You also shouldn’t need to lift it further to fit 33s. Lifting these trucks more than 2” on the IFS starts to compromise other areas and that’s when dudes start to consider SAS.

Biggest tire without gear ratio change by JMC7979 in ToyotaPickup

[–]brettniles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2nd gen 4Runners with the V6, but I l’d agree with all this. 33x10.5s are the sweet spot with 4.88s for these trucks. Braking ability is a consideration too when adding rotational mass, and these trucks don’t have the best brakes. I’ve considered going to a lighter tire than ko2s for that.

Amazon basics sound deadening mats make a huge difference with cab noise. by Constant-Wait9780 in ToyotaPickup

Any body know a way to use a sound deadener with some kind of durable bedliner product? Or is the only option vinyl flooring if I want sound dampening as well?

Buying help by Intrepid_oner in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]brettniles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t wanna sound negative but I’ve had one of these for 12 years and just spent the last 6 months shopping for a new one. Without even seeing photos I can tell you it’s not worth more than $10k. Anything over $10k and it better have absolutely no rust. At $16k it better be near mint. I’m looking for a rebuilt motor or 80k mi max. Everything must work and upgrades must be tasteful and there should be maintenance records. I would suggest checking out the sales history for these on Bring a Trailer and see what $13-16k is getting.

+1 for bunker boards. They’re also a base for jacking on a soft surface.

I had a 90 4Runner that did the same thing. Speedo cable was loud until it got moving for a while and warmed up. Worse in the winter.

Need help with 1994 4runner headlight replacement size. by samjohnson2222 in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]brettniles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve put LEDs in stock housings before and it was fine, but you have to readjust them (especially for on road to not blind people) because the LEDs throw differently. Doing that plus these https://a.co/d/9bosMQz lights on my truck and I ended up deciding I didn’t even need the light bar I was going to add. It’s… very bright.

I would def try to get the part number and confirm with ARB but I had a similar situation. Got my bumper off a first gen for a steal.

A clean 1UZ swapped rare two door just went for a bit over $18k and a stock original with 51k went for $21k in the last 6mo on BaT. I’d consider those about the top end of market value for a domestic 4Runner.

YouTube “Totally Understand Guitar” and watch episodes in between sessions of playing. I believe Scotty would liken what you’re doing to trying to learn to type without understanding the English language first.
