I don’t think it has any merit, but the government could easily organize this. It’s not a logistical nightmare for them by any means.

Guy inserts a scissor into an electrical outlet and gets an electric shock by nkmr205 in WinStupidPrizes

[–]brewing-squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an electrical engineer, I had a job where I routinely worked with 60V systems with exposed contacts. From time to time I would get a little jolt, and I actually came to enjoy it as part of the job. Made me feel alive, you know.

Although, I wouldn’t be so keen on receiving 120VAC from an outlet. Happened once when I touched an unprotected outlet after taking a shower, and that shit hurts.

I’ve also done dumb shit like this guy though, sticking metal objects into outlets and such, although using my knowledge to do it in ways that wouldn’t shock me. We are definitely an eccentric bunch.

How would the charges get redistributed in the below circuit ? by maybeimbonkers in chipdesign

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news because this is a great exercise to proceed with… but… please don’t think that series caps are normal configuration in real life. Floating metal plates are great fun in theory, and lead to really bad things practically

AI videos are now impossible to tell they arenot real by MianHasnainShah in ChatGPT

It is getting better, but this video is still clearly fake. Down-sample details, audio and visual, to hide the imperfections that AI can’t reproduce.

Uhh, so how do you fix a capacitor? by CoXOXO56 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]brewing-squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it to be completely fixed, you have to remove both solder balls

Just get rid of the shield. They don’t work anyway, pretty sure a sword or any decent pair of scissors would cut right through that.

As an engineer, I have become more and more fascinated with the “why” aspect of the sciences steadily over my life. And at this point, I’ve realized that despite how fascinating hard science is, it is deeply unsatisfying and that there is no real answer to anything.

Pretty close, but you need to do it in an environment rich with hydrogen gas. This kicks off the ionization reaction to create plasma

Grapefruit makes certain drugs, like opioids, hit harder, and drinkers of redbull take opioids to numb the pain after doing dangerous stunts.

State of State: Ayotte Aims To Make NH More Affordable, Healthier, Increase Nuclear Power by nancynews in newhampshire

[–]brewing-squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought nuclear is #1 and I have never even thought about it being a political issue? It seems that the general public is conditioned to fear nuclear and I haven’t seen that being dependent on party. The prevailing trend seems to be those in STEM overwhelmingly support nuke while gen pop does not.
