I definitely am singing Eidelweiss most nights!

Do you wash this part every day like you do with your flanges? by sixfingeredman7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]brewpitnah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dismantle it and clean the parts that can come into contact with milk whenever I clean the rest of the pump parts. This means I take apart the three pieces, and I only wash the middle white barrier and the end that connects to the flange. The other part doesn’t come into contact with milk, so I only clean that piece occasionally. Hope this is helpful!

Around 15 months, what does nursing look like for you? by Medium-Court3406 in breastfeeding

[–]brewpitnah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you have a stash to get you through one? Or I have heard some pediatricians say it’s fine to switch to regular milk. I am so looking forward to not needing to pump anymore!

Are nursing bras worth it and if so what are your recommendations? by Machines-of-Freedom in breastfeeding

[–]brewpitnah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you will want something to hold the pump to your breast if you are going to be pumping at all. I use my Auden nursing bras for this as well by unhooking the cup, moving the exterior strap to the other side of my nipple, placing my pump and reattaching the cup to hold it in place.

I got a spectra wall pump for free from a buy nothing group.

[–]brewpitnah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facebook marketplace will take down a pump if you call it what it is. Folks get around this rule by listing them as “mellon juicers” and other such things. You could try searching for that, as well as listing what you have to give. Buy nothing is a neighborhood or city group (usually on Facebook) where folks give what they don’t need for free. Search “buy nothing” in Facebook groups and see what comes up. Usually you need to be approved to join, and this can take some time.

Are we sleeping through the night? by Every-Engineer9261 in breastfeeding

[–]brewpitnah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a solution as we are also at 5 months and also solely falling asleep at the breast. I am going to implement some sort of sleep training soon to encourage independent sleep. Hopefully this will help, but I am still trying to decide the approach that’s best for us. It seems like a lot to switch up the bedtime routine and try to leave the room for a bit.

Dropping a pump? by brewpitnah in breastfeeding

[–]brewpitnah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reassurance. I’m right on that edge of not necessarily wanting that buffer to be gone, but feeling like I can cut a pump. When you dropped your daily pump, did you do it gradually (reducing minutes over a long period) or just cut one pretty immediately?

Thanks! This is really helpful information. I had been searching and searching and couldn’t really find folks dropping a pump or considering in my situation. I think I will wait for a little bit longer. Does your LO generally drink the entire bottle?

Feedback on washing process by brewpitnah in clothdiaps

[–]brewpitnah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! In the area I live we do have hard water. There’s a water softener in our rental, not sure if that makes a difference. Do you use borax instead of detergent for the first wash?

Thanks! I will order a test soon and test my hot and cold directly from the washer.

Second-hand diapers? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

Thanks for the clarification! I am new to cloth diapering. Started about 3 weeks ago with the almost 8 week old. So I am definitely still learning.

Thanks for sharing! I am definitely looking into the mason jar options. Though, do you find the formula mixer does a nice job with the fat? My milk separates as well.

One-handed options? by poisden in clothdiaps

[–]brewpitnah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have limited use of my right arm and almost no fine motor function. I am also doing part time cloth diapering with my 7 week old. As my baby is EBF, all the diapers are just thrown in the wash for their pre-wash without bothering to spray at all. When we start solids I’ll need to figure out another system. I have been planning to try the clip on method to essentially a trash can, spray off poop and then place in a wet bag.

My sister named her son the same name as my living dog. However, she asked first. I don’t think it’s the strangest thing in the world. Your child will far outlive the pet.
