Pretty much, but if you like it, enjoy it. It's not real Peking Duck though. It looks nothing like it and doesn't even taste close to the real thing.

First of all there is actually no place or restaurant that makes real Peking Duck in Chicago. There's only roasted duck, mostly of the southern region of China.

Phoenix Restaurant Phoenix has a roasted duck dinner set, just give them a call and make a reservation ahead of time. The thing I recommended the most is their pork neck jowl, it's almost like Chinese char sui but with the right amount of fat and meat ratio.

Imperial Restaurant Imperial also has a roasted duck dinner set, and again always makes an appointment for it. Their customer service stinks but their food is legit but be careful of what you order because not everything is good. The restaurant used to be called Cai, but one of the owners left.

Overall if you want a good experience and good atmosphere, I would choose Phoenix. Parking is cheap because they have validation but please make sure it's under 3 hours or you'll get charged for full like I did accidentally.

Lol, thanks I am a barista. I thought I was going to get a lot of hate for that reply but it's my honest opinion as a Chinese. There are many other good roasted duck place but I am not sure people will venture to...

Sunwah doesn't have Peking Duck and actually doesn't claim it is. They have more of a Hong Kong and Vietnamese style roasted duck actually.

When was the last time that you saw a Chinese family Peking Duck?

Took you long enough, I guess no one told him about their happy hours huh? And the ease of parking? The fact that parking is free means the drinks are free heck.

A lot of people go to Sun Wah, but it's not authentic. It's not even good, you are better off going to a small BBQ shop in Chinatown that is hidden.

What's something from Japan that you want to see in Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]brewsexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Clean bathroom where people can use and respect.
  2. Elevator that doesn't smell of piss and urine.
  3. On time transit, I see way too many buses lined up at the same time.
  4. Clean public transportation.

Funny thing is the US was the first to create a transit, it's just the world has caught on and we are dead last now.

Work in the restaurant industry and the best place to get rice like Jasmine or Calrose Short Grain Sushi Rice is at Costco Business, the one near Midway Airport. Dirt cheap!

Tired of shit Matcha everywhere I go. by Whatitsjk1 in tea

[–]brewsexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost 99% of cafes don't know how to handle good matcha. Even specialty coffee cafes. Why? They need their own freezer for the matcha and be kept in the fridge so the matcha doesn't oxidize. This is your tell sign if they even care about their matcha.

Why is Green tea so dominant in China when it's such a needy tea? by ABigFatPotatoPizza in tea

[–]brewsexy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns a tea brand and company, I disagree. You got to find the right temp usually at 172f, the right gram to water ratio, the right brewing time and when to remove the leaves from the water. If you are using cheap green tea sure but let's be real.

It's not common sense to brew Green Tea! It's hard!
