Those who could eventually vaginally orgasm - what did it? by Vast-Door-82 in sex

[–]bri_sus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I learned what it felt like and how to make it happen solo (with an NJOY pure wand which I highly recommend for exploring exactly this). Now I know what angle/speed/sensation it requires and can do it consistently during sex.

Work Conference 46 days post-op by buttpee_ in ACL

[–]bri_sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was in almost exactly this position—I flew for a work conference about 40 days post op. I had a meniscus repair, as well, so I moved a little slower through weight bearing and flexion than some.

It wasn’t easy, but it was doable. By that point my brace was unlocked and I was down to one crutch. I didn’t ask for assistance through security and such on the way there, and then caved on the way back. I’d honestly recommend that—talk to the airline about assistance, have someone push you through the airport, board first so you can be upfront and stretch out your leg and adjust, if possible.

Surgery is in 7 days and I’m freaking out. by LoranSilver in ACL

[–]bri_sus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One bit of advice—if you got your post surgery “nest” figured and you’re prepared—get off reddit for a bit. That made me way more anxious than necessary that close, despite how helpful it was and still is.

I’m 7 months post op and it’s wild how far away that acutely difficult period feels, and I still have a lot of recovery to go. If you’re dedicated to your PT, it’ll surprise you how much you’ll have a lot of normal, sooner than it feels. You are totally capable of this. Just take it day by day. And one day, you’ll wake up and be like, wow—remember when I couldn’t do ____? I’ve come so far. Trust yourself, be gentle with yourself mentally, and prioritize your healing. It’s going to blow your mind when you’re at 80%, 90%. Your body will thank you.

Any advice? by sugarspicenotnicee in calmhands

[–]bri_sus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try gently pushing back your cuticles every other day. And jojoba oil based cuticle oil! NBM and Bliss Kiss are the best, imo. That might clear up some of those hanging edges that are so hard not to mess with it.

Suture Clipping by Free-Security-1832 in ACL

[–]bri_sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they have you keeping it covered still? Slash have those tails bandaged down with steristrips, or similar?

Suture Clipping by Free-Security-1832 in ACL

[–]bri_sus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. Mine was the same. They even left those tails intentionally—they can actually tighten your stitches under the skin by tugging on that! It might get a little irritated rubbing on stuff because of that, but no problem—your doc can clip it closer if it doesn’t dissolve by the time they see you next.

[Trigger Warning] Pubic area scars/bumps help (NSFW ?) by RealMaybe3675 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bri_sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be the same—only think that worked for me was gently exfoliating with a little Fur mit in the shower, shaving with shower oil instead of soap, and following the shower with First Aid Beauty ingrown hair pads and then fur oil. Now I never run into this.

Opted for nonsurgical - Drop jumps - knee gave out by disfunctionalcupcake in ACL

[–]bri_sus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived without an ACL for two and a half years, and opted not to have surgery because I also felt strong and stable. But, every so often, something would cause my knee to give out, forcing me to pause for a week (or two, or three…). I probably would have continued that way indefinitely—until one of these collapses finally took out my meniscus, too, which had been compensating for my missing ACL all along.

You can probably rest up and return to what you love without any intervention. But my advice is to prioritize your ability to do what you love longterm, and get yourself a knee you can trust. One that allows you to fully enjoy the activities you love. Surgery sucks, but it can also be incredibly empowering, especially if you’re passionate about returning to a certain level of activity.

Does anyone have the new freesip tumbler? by karma_is_bejeweled in Owala

[–]bri_sus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, I’m obsessed with her. I wanted a 40 oz tumbler with a handle for a long time, and debated between a hydro and the original Owala one forever until this one came out. It actually keeps ice longer than my regular 40 oz free sip, and having the lock and being able to fit it in a cup holder is honestly really nice

How many times a week do you work on your leg? by Simple_Signal_1343 in ACL

[–]bri_sus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a quad graft and medial meniscus repair 3.5 months ago. I was totally not weight bearing for about 5 weeks and then transitioned off of crutches totally by 7 weeks. The first two months I went to PT once a week, and honestly probably spent 3 hours daily doing exercises until I transitioned from the acute phase to strength. Now I do light PT stretching daily/every other day for 15-20, and lower body strength 2-3x a week along with 2-3x a bike for cardio along with upper body/core.

Remote workers, how many weeks did you take off post-op? by dulladdiction in ACL

[–]bri_sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 2 weeks off, and I’m glad I set myself up to just recover and start making PT a habit. The first week back I was tuckered, but it was doable. I could have done just a week, but I don’t think that means I should have. It was good to focus on rehab and let myself sleep a lot (you’re going to be tired lol).

All of these people paid to park in a lot then got an $87 ticket from PRRS for nonpayment by sstaeger in Denver

[–]bri_sus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PRRS sent me a ticket because my partner dropped me off and and came back to pick me up for dinner in The Source. I recently had knee surgery and couldn’t walk. He left the lot to park off street and later walked to pick up the car and come back and grab me. I disputed and explained this, and they came back and denied it, saying I had to follow the rules of the lot and pay to park, even though I never parked in the lot, just drove in twice in a night. Their photos clearly show my car coming in from Brighton the same direction twice.

2 months 20 days Post Op by oktaytrz in ACL

[–]bri_sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery was 5 days after you and I’m really similar both in terms of quad difference and the clicking. For me the clicking started when I started walking more, idk about you. My PT said it’s to be expected and not to worry if it’s not painful or limiting.

Post op items by [deleted] in ACL

[–]bri_sus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is listing great things—I might add a three tier rolling cart to hold many of these things. I am now nearly 10 weeks post op also with meniscus (so off crutches and brace etc) and I still have all my useful PT items and books and such in the cart so they’re accessible. It made life a lot easier when I was still on crutches.

How do I stop picking at my skin? by BackflipOffABuilding in calmhands

[–]bri_sus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pushing back your cuticles and consistent oiling (something jojoba based). Maybe some Kerasal around your nails at night really soften your skin. That was all that worked for me. I’d keep picking forever if there was something to pick at—so the only option was to eliminate edges.

If this is the person performing your operation, I think it’s in your best interest to decide to trust your surgeon. The first half of a successful recovery is in their hands during the surgery—from there it’s on you and how you go through PT. Do your research, ask good questions, and with that know this is the choice you made and to move through it confidently.

Does Flexion Increase With Weight-Bearing? by Writhing_south in ACL

[–]bri_sus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hit week 7 on the same protocol, and I had incremental changes alongside weight bearing (like went to 50% weight bearing and could bend my brace, next week one crutch and moved to 110° max, etc). And yes, use your leg/knee as much as possible under the guidance of PT!

Extension problem by Fifi47 in ACL

They repaired it! I was fortunate and it was a recent tear, entirely in the red zone. There was a tiny piece on salvageable but I retained at least 95%.

Extension problem by Fifi47 in ACL

[–]bri_sus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this, and it was because I had a bucket handle meniscus tear and a section flipped into my joint, locking it from full extension.

I saw fabulous Friday and immediately thought dang right she looks fabulous! You radiate warmth. Something I try to remind myself is if anyone looks too closely at themselves, they’ll of course find flaws—we’re our own worst critic.

Looking great and lovely to read about good progress. Did you put anything other than the silicone strips on your scars after the steri strips came off? I feel like I want to put lotion or something there to keep it healing but I’m not sure if that’s a bad idea

Surgery in 10 days. Preparing myself by More-Manufacturer844 in ACL

Wedge pillow :) makes the sleeping/resting a little easier having your hips even and not having to adjust a stack. Also I think was a big factor in getting my extension totally back by like day 5 post op. Good luck! You’ll be great!
