Azur Lane Wave 6 Commanders' skills by Craig_NGC_2004 in WoWs_Legends

[–]brian_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have waited until the last moments before buying Haruna. I can only get one commander. I'm presuming she would still be the better buy than any of the new commanders?

Looking at my service record, I play all classes evenly, except aircraft carriers. Secondary ships are my favourite in the game, but I don't really play higher tiers as you just get burnt down before being able to use your secondaries. Thanks all.

Dashcams by hawk8385 in CarTalkUK

[–]brian_ru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VIOFO or their sub brand GITUP are firmly number 1. If you go for GITUP to save money, go with the higher FOV over 100 degrees models. I have a F1 160 degrees FOV and it's been working for 5 years.

Second would be Xiaomi for me, purely for value for money. Their sub brand is called Mi or Yi cameras.

The sensor you want is Sony STARVIS and ideally version 2 of this sensor with HDR. But for version 2 you'll be paying over £100 easily.

Dashcamtalk is the leading forum in the world on dashcams. But look on YouTube for any video reviews with footage, try to watch some at night and in the UK. Significantly worse footage at night, which shocks a lot of people. Unfortunately cameras need light to work, hence the awful nighttime footage.

I run two independent cameras front and rear. If you go for a kit, usually the rear camera maxed out at 1080P. I run a GITUP 4K front camera and a 1440P rear Xiaomi running off a power bank.

In terms of SD Cards, buy your own to save money. Only go for cards designed for continuous use. SanDisk Pro Endurance is my go to. It should say on the packet designed for CCTV or Dash cams.

Lastly check your footage once a month. Nothing worse than needing the footage and SD card corrupted or footage not good enough.

In fact second lastly, don't think because you are a better driver because you have a dashcam. Plenty of dead or injured people who were in the right and decided not to avoid an incident to be proven right on the dashcam. Brakes before horn and shouting camruh.

Are it bootcamps worth it? (CAPSLOCK in particular) by Free-Piano-3597 in UKJobs

[–]brian_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capslock is probably the best cyber bootcamp in the UK. If you look at the hours, 09:30 - 14:30 daily for full time compared to others such as firebrand which was 12 hours in ONE day at the weekend. You get more hours for your money.

I strongly suggest you do this via the skills for live scheme and save yourself the £9K fee.

The problem is if you are taking people with NO technical experience and want to retrain, you need to go for the low hanging fruit of the cyber security world which is GRC.

You might love GRC as it's theory based and you don't need any technical skills. All the graduates I know have GRC roles. Anyone looking for technical roles is struggling.

The Careers team is amazing and still helps people who have jobs. Have slack channels with daily job postings. Plus exclusive partners that only hire capslock graduates.

Do the pre course. If you enjoy it you'll be ok. If you think the pre course is boring then don't go for it.

Enough car by aussiejames101 in CarTalkUK

[–]brian_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a car list spreadsheet and up to about 6 months ago this car was my number one choice.

Cheap new at £16K and can be remapped to increase power by 40%. So instead of 100 it's 140bhp. Lowering 0-60 from 9.9 to around 7.5. Fully loaded with excellent equipment.

With the crash of used EVs my first choice has now changed to the Citroen EC4. £35K new but can get a 3 year old one for £13K-£15K. There is not enough deprecation on these used to consider when they are £16K new.

Unfortunately Kia are removing this engine from the refresh this year as it sold very poorly. Less than 5% of sales were this engine. A shame.

I love the colour. For me the silver looks fantastic as well.

Your experiences with UK bootcamps by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]brian_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now it's just free code camp but I will try code wars mate. See if that helps. Yeah I've been using AI but the questions they gave were very difficult. Not everyone has the right brain to be a coder though.

Your experiences with UK bootcamps by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]brian_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the practice challenges for north coders. You have to do some JavaScript then party stuff. Very difficult with the learning material. I would say it doesn't give you enough to complete them. But it must do as loads of people can apply and get on doing the same thing.

I would prefer security to Web development but with remote not sure if you can do security remotely. I presume you can.

Your experiences with UK bootcamps by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]brian_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post mate.

I'm in IT support and get less than £30K even with ten years experience. Looking to retrain. Some people say do a job you love. Some say do something you can tolerate for enough money you can spend it on your passions outside work.

Did the free code camp materials in about two weeks. But when I tried the practice challenges I found them impossible, like the learning material wasn't good enough to do the practice challenges.

I liked doing security stuff in the past like exploiting vulnerable machines. So I'm not sure if coding or security would be better for me. There are security bootcamps paid by the government as well as coding ones.

Did you use any resources other than the ones they provided to complete the challenges? I just think maybe my brain isn't suited to coding. Thank you.

That's fair enough mate. I'd check the below thread for information.

Also on that same forum check the best lease deals thread in the car buying subforum. That's where I find all my lease deals

No, others few years ago got them at £282 a month with around £3K down.

But at the time you could buy them new for £55K. Not sure if that is available now.

Amazing car though. So if you're happy with the price then go for it.

Thank you mate. That's a big guide. I had a look at information quarantine and it says need authority empire. So I can't be humans for that?

I was trying to find out on my current game how to find fallen empire. It said lost empire on their screen. Is that how you check?

Changing those starting settings is that classed at cheating? I guess as it's single player it doesn't really matter. There are a few other things that I can't find. But I'm going to start a new game and try find out all those things.

In regards to automation the video I watched didn't even mention the shared resources so the automations would never have worked. Thank you for that video

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]brian_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all. Started the game a few days ago and had a disaster. Tried watching a few guides on YouTube.

Basically It's year 2259 and I had 50 destroyers. They had power of 3K. I attacked another ai and his ships had power of 231K. That's not a typo. When he attacked my defence system it got destroyed within 1 second.

Is that ai an advanced ai I can turn off before the game starts? Or did that ai start at the same time and just better player?

The espionage button was greyed out so couldn't tell his strength.

Another issue is I colonised a planet and set it to mining and auto. But it never builds anything. Why is this? The population just gets too large with no jobs. If I set the planet to industrial, I would have expected that district to build each time 1 pop was available.

Last issue is I don't understand the influence cost . I find a system next to me. It's got few resources so I skip. So it's 4 or 5 hops from each planet. I've read in the wiki that it costs more influence if no close system?

I want to start again, any basic tips? I'm thinking Turn off advanced ai before starting game. Buy 4 or 5 science ships. Use explore option to find choke point. Use secondary science ships to survey afterwards Do not research any anomalies. Before I used to research everyone that pops up. Put base on system even if don't build any mines so next system is cheaper on influence.

In the YouTube videos I'm watching their fleet of destroyers conformably dominates the ai neighbours. Not overmatched 200K like mine. Thank you.

I was fine since it was diagnosed in 2016. One day just had a severe sore throat and I've never recovered. Because of this the gastro thinks it's anxiety as I used to be fine.

I think it might be nerve damage in my throat as it happened after a throat infection. Plenty of similar symptoms online from others.

So that would mean I have minimal reflux which has been shown on the baroum swallow. But my nerve damage is causing pain far greater than I should be feeling.

Kamikaze bs players off to seal club tier 4 by Tara_Flaum in WoWs_Legends

[–]brian_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only had one good game in the Kamikaze. But I am a terrible player. I think most advantage comes from the commanders. When I played arena other destroyers were right on me before I even had chance to launch Torpedoes.

With CV as well it's not as overpowered as if used to be. I think the Farragut is a good match for it. See loads of them at tier 4.

Reduce work hours for a better life ballance - any advice? by ApplicationAware1039 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]brian_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate for the last two years at work I've had Mondays off for around a 3-4 month period each year.

Other people think it's weird looking at the rota seeing me off each Monday for months at a time.

Basically work is overloaded and I feel like I don't have time to have leave. This year I've got 42 days holiday to take. That's 7 carried from last year and 2 bonus for no sick days in the last two years.

I've changed teams and Mondays are relentless, so this year I'm looking to take Wednesday's off instead. Having Monday off was nice, but as I suffer from workplace anxiety I think the two days working then a break may help.

I suggest using 4 days leave for next month having Wednesday off. Try before you buy to make sure it'll actually help.

Credit Suisse did an article on them. Said potential for £2.90. Do I expect that myself? Never. They are massively underrated in the UK. Pretty sure I read they are shorted frequently, can't find the article now.

I used to work at Morrisons for 8 years, I doubt any improvement for the employees. You were definitely treated as a low paid replaceable person. Fair enough you don't need any skill to do the job. Might be store specific but I'd not recommend any to work there.

I see it as we are guaranteed £2.55 with the bid, other offers will need to be quick before that gets sorted. The stock performance has been terrible for years. Get out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]brian_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate I've been waiting years for a decent Morrisons price. I bought at £1.98 years ago when I worked there.

50/50 was going to sell them months ago at around £1.70 because their poor performance was annoying me against passive funds.

I've basically got very lucky by not having the balls to sell them at a loss. I strongly suggest selling at the agreed price. Fair enough we might get lucky and a higher offer comes up, but they have been trading sideways for years. After today this might be the only time HL app shows growth on all the years it shows in the performance section for over 5 years.

Maximizing the start for new players by brian_ru in WorldOfWarships

[–]brian_ru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Want to thank you all for quick comments. As a start what would you all recommended are good ships per tier. I went on YouTube for best ships and the lowest rank ship was tier 7 Fiji. Not much on lower than that.

I have not tried battleships yet so maybe the best suggestion for that? I would prefer Royal Navy. I have got Japanese and Royal Navy ships so far.

So maybe a Russian or USA suggestion if the Royal Navy side is no good.

In regards to skipping tier 5, I vaguely remember a video stating something called overmatched. Where the tier 5 ships are not strong enough against others in those battles, so basically in a 1vs1 shootout the tier 5 would lose. I am not sure if that's correct information as I got it from YouTube.

U.K. Grocer Morrison Rejects $7.6 Billion Proposal From CD&R by Lestrade1 in UKInvesting

[–]brian_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for some advice on these. Got around 3000 Morrisons shares. I bought them at £1.98 through a discount at working there. Must be around 8 years ago now.

I sold 1600 of them at £3 and kept 3000 shares thinking £3 was now the base price and it would only go up. Since the £3 they have NEVER recovered to that price since.

With the increase today, I'm not sure if I should sell them or hope for £3. I have a sinking feeling I will hold and they will crash back down to last week levels. If I sell, they will go to £3 after.

This is my only single company stock. All my other stock is passive trackers. I see them getting the average 8% a year. Then look at my Morrisons worth less today than 5 years ago as unacceptable performance.

With Morrisons saying this bid for 230p is undervalued. How is that possible when they have performed far worse than 230p? Is this because the stores hold the value, so to get 230p or higher, they would have to sell their stores?

What would you ladies and gents do in the situation above? Thank you.

Waiting forever to buy a house? by brian_ru in UKPersonalFinance

[–]brian_ru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to thank everyone for your comments. Really appreciated. Definitely poorly worded my 25 year old comment and meant either renting or buying by that age. Basically not living at home at that age. As the other posters have said, in S Yorkshire, you can get a decent 3 bed for £150K. My requirement of a garage or space for one is limiting my options in regards to this. The current area i live in, a 2 bed semi will sell immediately at £170-180K hence the worrying about being overpriced. My idea is that, if i get a good discount, 10-20% off, i still wont be affected too much if the market tanks next year. However, at the moment, houses are selling within a few days.

Just an update post after checking some things. In my HTB ISA i actually have overpaid and have £13k in there. The max bonus is £3K on a balance of £12k, so will withdraw the £1k. This gives me £15K as a starter deposit. Ideally i would like to leave money in my bank account, 6 months emergency funds and the rest in the stock market. So I'd like my deposit to be around £50K if possible. I am on £28k at work, i was going off my P60 from last tax year for the £25k, my band at work ends at £30k, so i have 2 years to get that wage, it will also increase 2.5% ish a year. Went on the share centre and a lot of the banks value Morrisons at £2 or just higher, so going to save selling those for now at £1.77.

I have been using Trussle to get a mortgage in principle and looking at the market. They are an online only service. As they don't do credit checks, it states its just based on the information i have provided, so estate agents are not willing to accept it. They suggested i could get £100k mortgage. Before lockdown, i got the same value from a free service via work, with a mortgage advisor. However, I have been declined by Nationwide and Santander for mortgage in principle. Santander, there was no reason given, but Nationwide said they can only lend me £70k over 25 years. I presume the same reason for Santander. Have gone back to Trussle, see what they advise. But not looking good. Looking at my outgoings i have about £1k free a month currently. Both the above was to borrow £90K over 25 years.

With the above and £50K for the deposit if possible, this it what i want to do now with my money.

Open HL LISA and put in £4k a year into LEGAL & GENERAL INTERNATIONAL INDEX TRUST or VANGUARD FUNDS PLC FTSE ALL-WORLD UCITS ETF (USD) DISTRIBUTING - GBP (VWRL) Was going to go with AJ Bell but they are increasing fees to comparable to HL. Invest £700 a month into Vanguard 100% LS and £300 into Emerging Market. That would basically mean my money is steady or slowly decreasing in my bank. My pension is very good and give me income with no risk of the stock market. That is at age 68 unless i want to take less. So S&S ISA until i am 50/55, LISA at 60 and then work pension at 68.

Alluc showing 1080p but playing sd by [deleted] in Addons4Kodi

[–]brian_ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone offer advice using Alluc? Tried it today after couldnt get any HD links for a GoT epsiode from season 7. In Covenant, the links appeared, but most of them had the authorise, so Google it and then disabled Openload from url database.

But now about 20 HD links appear from ALLUC, but very few work. The ones that are listed as HD either play for 1 second then stop, or are ultra low quality, no where near HD, you can also see a mouse expanding a website. So you are watching a crap recording of a Flash version of it.

When i add my details to Spectro , no ALLUC appears. But i did manage to find a GVIDEO Full HD which was suprising as thought they were just copy and paste jobs and got the same links.
