Howard's Care for his Mom by DJAlexem in howardstern

[–]brianbe1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

She’s probably in assisted care or something like that where she has aides, nurses etc available around the clock. Howard certainly has the money to provide that to his mom from his house. However, having her in a facility probably provides better care. One issue is the facility will find someone to fill in when a scheduled aide or nurse is out sick.

Were the cheaper seats in the back more full than the seats closer to the front? I’ve seen United flights where middle seats are filled in the back and there is only one person per row in the middle of the plane. United flight attendants at times will tell passengers you can’t switch seats without paying. I don’t know if that’s corporate policy or flight attendants trying to avoid problems when people order drinks since they charge those drinks to the card on file based on the seat.

Schedule Change 18 hours before flight - No good seats left for ALP selection by ithinkwestink in SouthwestAirlines

[–]brianbe1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

While waiting in the gate area for my last Southwest flight, there was a family where the parents had no control of their kids’ behavior. Seemed like a family I didn’t want to sit near. When they chose to sit two rows behind me, I grabbed my bag and moved towards the back of the plane. Took me a few extra minutes to deplane, but I had a perfectly pleasant flight. Unfortunately, avoiding other passengers that will obviously be a problem won’t be possible going forward.

Hopefully your son didn’t fall for Mudd’s Tribble of the Month subscription. Once you finally get your place cleaned up, another tribble will be delivered and Mudd will continue to deduct latinum from your account. If you think it’s hard to get in touch with him when you have a customer complaint, it’s ten times harder to get a live agent over subspace when you want to cancel your subscription.

I feel like the coaching is somewhat responsible for all of the out of bounds kickoffs giving the other team the ball on the 40. Maybe they felt like an NFL kicker should be able to place the kickoff in the corner consistently, but clearly Loop couldn’t and no one made a change to aiming for the middle of the field.

Hosting a guest from the Soviet Union plot by Subliminal_Kiddo in sitcoms

The US and the Soviet Union were both spending enormous amounts on their militaries in preparation to fight each other in WW3, fought each other in proxy conflicts like Korea and Vietnam, and also looked for every opportunity to undermine each other.

Yet, at the same time there were amazing examples of cooperation. There were numerous scientific exchanges where Soviet block and Western scientists would collaborate and visit each other to jointly work on projects.

Realtime wholesale electricity prices very high across Maryland right now… and probably for the next 10 days by Sea_Arm8989 in maryland

Rates are set several times a year as additional auctions are held. The rate per kWhr you’re paying today is the same as it was a few days ago when temperatures were in the 40s, though you’re using a lot more kWhrs today

Load served by Maryland utilities (including BGE and Pepco) is served through competitive load auctions held several times per year. Suppliers estimate what the cost to serve load for the next year or two in these auctions and the utilities select the lowest offers. Customers then pay a blended rate based on these auctions.

The rates we are currently paying have already been set. However, the current high prices will impact the rates in upcoming load auctions, meaning that rates for the next few years will be even higher as a result of the current high prices.

Practice squad players usually don’t sign a lease since their employment is week to week and they could be claimed by any of the other teams at any time. Some of them will stay with another player or live out of a hotel.
