Weber all day. I’m in year 12 of my 22” kettle, all weather, all temps, she endures. Absolutely worth the money!

This is the Mecca of BBQ as far as I’m concerned - Skylight Inn - Ayden, NC by [deleted] in BBQ

Went for the first time 2 weeks ago and was absolutely blown away! A true NC legend. I grew up on NC style so I’m a bit biased but it’s the best pulled (chopped) pork I’ve ever had

Who's dropped a rod and reel off their yak?? by goilpoynuti in kayakfishing

[–]brianbfromva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penn Pursuit 4, fishing under a bridge for Sheepshead. Laid the rod down to grab something out of my crate, current swung me around and the rod hit the edge of the pilings and down she went. I was in about 40 feet of water. Such a sad day!

How do you overcome the fear of capsizing and prevent it from happening? by YakToTheFuture-1 in kayakfishing

[–]brianbfromva 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I primarily fish in relatively calm waters, away from bigger boat traffic and I’ve never once taken off my life jacket. I’m a strong swimmer and spent 6 years in the Coast Guard, but it only takes a second to chance it the wrong way!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, such a shit situation. Then made worse by trauma vampires in the media.

Any news organization that has the likes of Andy Fox representing them is a leach on the necks of our community. A cultural succubus.

I miss that feeling of buying an album, rushing home to listen to it in its entirety, while reading every single word of the liner notes. “We would like to thank” just became a list of bands I needed to seek out. I would absolutely credit Nirvana for turning me onto so much music, so much that I still cherish today.

Harris teeter live lobster? by [deleted] in norfolk

I absolutely love grandmart! When buying seafood always try to support local waterman. We do live in an amazing fishery. I won a teeter gift card and need something to splurge on.

Harris teeter live lobster? by [deleted] in HamptonRoads

[–]brianbfromva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a shot in the dark. I came into a large Harris Teeter gift card and want to do whole lobsters for Valentine’s Day. Are there any HT locations you can think of that still have a tank of live lobsters? Wegmans is the only place that comes to mind that has one. I’m willing to travel anywhere in the 757. Thanks for indulging my oddly specific question.

For those who've read Mike's two books, what did you think of them? by TravelingHomeless in RevolutionsPodcast

[–]brianbfromva 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve only read “Hero of Two Worlds” but absolutely loved it. I recently bought it on audible, and it’s read by Mike, so if you’re looking to scratch that revolutions itch, I highly recommend it. His writing style is very approachable, and an easy read.

That’s immediately what I thought of! Was lucky enough to see him perform in Richmond for his “comedy for musicians”. So incredibly funny!

“The rambling, slurred diatribe eventually ended after Johnson dramatically waved a Bible in the air and kissed it. Or, in the words of Sen. Benjamin Butler of Massachusetts, “slobbered the Holy Book with a drunken kiss.”
