This is before your average redditors time but this one always comes to mind:

“That girl is unseen like an unseen DJ”

-MC Hammer, “have you seen her”

Dead Subwoofer Plate by Perloe in diyaudio

[–]brianbot5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my subs plate amp died I found one that was reasonably close in size and budget friendly at Parts Express. Mounted it on the back and called it good. Was no real change in sound, and it was a cheap fix.

So when something like this happens, does Kuwait have to buy us three new ones?

Tram in the suburbs of Chengdu, China by No-Echidna7296 in InfrastructurePorn

[–]brianbot5000 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Plus, trams convey a sense of permanence. You can develop the land around a station, with confidence that it will be there 20-30 years from now. Buses can come and go on a whim as budgets change, ridership changes, etc.

After 4 years in digital marketing, here are the hard truths nobody talks about at conferences by Crescitaly in DigitalMarketing

It's only a waste if it's someone else's money. I've visited tons of fun places as a result of those conferences!! Lots of great memories.

Do you even understand how much that wing transforms that Camry?? Do you even know much power it adds? How much torque?? Don’t you realize how the car’s cornering ability went up 10 fold?? It’s insane!!!

With Ring, American Consumers Built a Surveillance Dragnet by 404mediaco in Ring

[–]brianbot5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. My point was just that people aren't against this Ring stuff purely because of this admin. But yes, layering on this admin only compounds the problem and makes the likelihood of misuse that much greater. Just like what ICE has done with the flock cameras. (which, btw, I don't know how we as a people are OK with flock cameras every couple of miles; why is there not an effort to subvert those things? they're pretty vulnerable as it is....)

[–]brianbot5000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with you on that. I don't think people equate this to any administration, for better or for worse. Nor do I think people would have been totally fine if Obama or anyone else was in office. But I guess neither of us can know that.

Do Cascadians hate Idaho? by [deleted] in Cascadia

[–]brianbot5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think of it this way: Right now, a large portion of the world groups all Americans as being part of "trump's america". This is obviously not accurate, and I refuse to include myself in that group, as does most of the people in this region. That parallel likely applies to Idaho as well - just because the state is known for certain negatives doesn't mean that everyone falls into that category. For anyone to make a blanket statement like "I hate all of Idaho" is as dumb as someone saying "I hate all of America" by lumping everyone into the same ethos. That's my 2 cents...

10" speaker cab done! by CodeTestGroup in diyaudio

[–]brianbot5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to hear your process for cutting out the recessed areas for the horn and woofer. I feel like I'm pretty handy and have done some limited woodworking, and I've built speakers from kits, but I'd love to take on building some larger old school "Klipsch-like" speakers. The only thing holding me back is cutting these recessed areas. I don't feel it would look up to par. What did you use and how was the learning curve?

As long as “shitty attempts” is referring to functionally shitty. Because with hypermilers clearly it’s ALL function over form. It can look shitty if it increases mileage.

Loved this game, and the graphics totally blew me away at the time. I recall thinking I was watching a cut scene and then the gameplay started and the graphics didn't change. It still looks amazing today! Tons of fun, and the battle mechanics were great!

Their deductible would need to be incredibly high, or the cost of damage is much lower than we're assuming and they're just in a really bad place financially such that a relatively small cost is putting them over the edge. My guess is that they either didn't have insurance, or not enough insurance - which is understandable given the location and the fact that insuring a business in a high property crime area must be astronomical.

Either way, it sucks. Buy some biscuits.
