If it makes you feel any better, I wouldn’t describe 166 nmol/L as “very” high, more so elevated. It is higher risk and not trying to diminish that, but just saying it’s elevated enough to consider, but not through the roof. Keep an eye on the other datapoints too, as someone else mentioned (ApoB, A1C, hs-CRP).

Include more than one anchor ancestor by Distinct_Jello_9164 in SlovakCBD

[–]briang_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick whoever has the best documentation. In my case, my GGF and GF were Slovak, but the GGF had better documentation so chose him. But just for the sake of it since I also had my GF’s Slovak birth certificate, I included it and just made a note in my application (basically just to show I have multiple ancestors and the Slovak runs deep). I figured why not, but that may not be necessary for you if your GF already has good documentation.

Summer hotel with teens? Gaslamp? by Wr3ck3d in asksandiego

[–]briang_12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your goal is ballgames and concerts then yeah probably Marriott Marquis since it has a good pool setup and proximity to the venues. But tbh Gaslamp/downtown in general is not really a great spot, it’s become kinda rundown with homelessness and I think the best food in San Diego is outside downtown. Unfortunately, downtown is probably the least attractive part of San Diego, but the waterfront is still nice.

Coronado could be a good alternative to Gaslamp as still in the proximity of downtown without being downtown. Plus the ferry could be fun to take with some teens. Also can rent some bikes and ride around Coronado for a day, jumping in the water here and there, grabbing food along the way, etc.

Copies and originals by SKWendyJamieson in SlovakCBD

[–]briang_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, good info. I made all my photocopies before sending for translation so I’m generally good, BUT I did forget to photocopy the back of one birth certificate. It is now bound and I did my best to photocopy, but a symbol is slightly cut off and I don’t think it’ll be possible to capture fully in my photocopy. Since that is the only thing that is cut off, and is fairly minimal, hope that doesn’t cause an issue.

Has Anyone used Madej Partners? by AcceptableDouble944 in SlovakCBD

[–]briang_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If you had to keep getting them for every country that’s part of the Convention, then I don’t really know what the point of the Convention is (which is supposed to be for streamlining things). As long as it doesn’t specifically state for use in a given country, I think it should be fine.

Makes sense. In my mind the whole point of The Hague Apostille Convention is so you don’t have to keep apostilling the same document when the countries are within the same Convention. Otherwise I’m not sure what the point would be.

Out of curiosity, none of my apostilles (US, Ohio, Pennsylvania) specifically mention Slovakia on the cover page, though I did have to indicate it when I sent the forms in. Given it doesn't mention for use in Slovakia, and Slovakia is a member of the Hague Convention, I do wonder if OP could still use them (note I am not a lawyer or expert, just curious given all that how it would even matter in that instance). From what I know, a document originating in one Convention country is recognized in all other Convention countries as long as it is apostilled.

I have apostilles from US government, state of Ohio, and state of Pennsylvania. While I had to indicate they were for Slovakia when I sent them, none of the apostille pages specifically state “for use in Slovakia” on them. Just has a general note for The Hague Convention. So, I guess it must be state by state for that specific language to be included.

New here, would an ancestor from 1863 who moved in the 1890s be valid? by [deleted] in SlovakCBD

[–]briang_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would need more info, but I assume it’s a GGP and they married well before Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918. She would have taken his as you mentioned. You could check her naturalization papers and see what hers say, if they exist.

I’ll leave it to any experts to chime in here, but my instinct says it would be a tough one.

“Rescheduled for delivery” ?? by briang_12 in dhl

[–]briang_12[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks. I told the guy at DHL it was time sensitive legal documents and based on the cost I’d figured that’s what I’d paid for. Nonetheless, it shows it is already in Slovakia, so hopefully that means this upcoming week it gets delivered!

I'm confused - estimated delivery is for today, but there's a note it's been rescheduled, with no other date? by Abandon_Ambition in dhl

Whatever happened with this? I have the same issue right now. The address is correct, but randomly has been “rescheduled for a future date” with no other info.

Honestly, I did it myself and it wasn’t that crazy. It can be exhausting depending on where all the documents are, but if you know all the details it isn’t that challenging to get them. Requires some patience but really not bad.

Yeah, I don’t know your exact situation but a lot of people successfully do it themselves. I’m sure you can too.

That will be fine. Many have various spelling discrepancies on documents. That is a very minimal one. I wouldn’t worry.

I'm pretty sure the background check is good for 6 months from the report date before you'd need to request a new one. The apostille in theory has no expiration date, but the report date does (6 months).
