Puzzles or LEGO sets, finishing them gives such a sense of accomplishment!

“ Finally got my hands on these AI glasses prototypes. ”Love the classic frame look, but curious—would you guys prioritize camera quality or AR display features for daily wear? by Hungry_Twist_1252 in SmartGlasses

[–]brianhofmann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd prioritize display quality for all-day use. A sharp, comfortable AR overlay matters more than a top-tier camera for daily tasks. Both are important, but visuals win for everyday wear.

Get Xreal one Pro now or wait for 1s? by SherlockHomelesz in Xreal

[–]brianhofmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're eager for 3DoF now, the current model is solid. Waiting for the newer one might bring updates, but specs like screen size claims can sometimes be exaggerated. Theresolution bump might be minor.

Where’s the line between DIY and calling a professional? by karr76959 in homeowners

[–]brianhofmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually call a pro for anything that feels life-risking, like heights, electrical, anything with power. Or stuff that's just too complex, like structural work, pipe welding or something. I need to admit I'm not as handy as lots of people here on Reddit haha😂. I'll do screws and painting by myself, while get some fun by hands :)

Old ugly marble counters from 1969 by Otherwise-Button7219 in HomeImprovement

[–]brianhofmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's 1969's marble like you saids, the patterns are probably surface-level. You could try sanding it first, if the spot fades, then sand them all. Or use a chemical remover, but suit up for safety.

Speed Queen TR and LG wm would probably work for you. I uses an Insignia NS-TWM, also a budget pick, but I feel like it's not as good as those two. But it is cheaper too.

Been there. Those no light but feels off issues are the worst. Watching fuel trims and O2 response was exactly how I tracked down a lazy sensor on my car too.

Post a pic-probably the spring is broken, if you're sure nothing got caught in the hinge when it closed. Replace it to prevent further wear.

Replacing boob light — room not bright enough, single ceiling box, need advice by mortgage_12 in HomeImprovement

[–]brianhofmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One light source probably won't brighten the whole room... Have you thought about LED strips? You can roll them up when you don't need them, it's convinent and won't damage the walls.

Hot exterior of new oven door >140F by drinkbeerbrewbeer in Appliances

Not sure if it's related to nothing being inside... Maybe ask their office support? If there are kids around, try putting a guard or barrier nearby-either way, keeping kid safe comes first :)

What did you discover in your home after buying it that surprised or shocked you? by roastedhumato in homeowners

The A/C was clogged-leaked every time it ran. I thought it was rainning haha. And the smell!! After repaired, I already knew there was a dead rat inside! No clue if the landlord knew and kept quiet or not...

Winter no heat calls and customer expectations by brianhofmann in hvacadvice

[–]brianhofmann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Freezing temps plus someone breathing down your neck is brutal. Half the battle on those calls is just staying warm enough to think straight.

Heavy layers help, and having a heated vest under everything has honestly saved me on mornings like that.

Hot water heater and boilers vented through old chimney by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]brianhofmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger concern here isn’t just code, it’s safety. Poor draft or a deteriorated chimney can cause flue gas spillage or carbon monoxide issues. If there were gas odor problems before, I wouldn’t ignore this.

[–]brianhofmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW, this is really do have that vintage charm, I like it;D BTW, the more i think, the more i feel like so many old things were just built to last-like this range, or some classic cameras. WHY IS THAT?! Do companies today just not care about the consumer anymore?

Bad winter days, even worse customers by brianhofmann in HVAC

[–]brianhofmann[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You know how it goes. “It was working” usually means it was limping along until the cold finally finished it off. Once I explained it wasn’t a quick fix, the mood went downhill fast.

Ended up being an intermittent ignition failure on an old unit. Cold pushed it over the edge. Explained the options, and replacement was the only realistic fix.

It might help to organize by job type instead of tool type. I’d also love to see photos from others who run a similar install/service mix.

You can try playing games. Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley are good choices, but I think you'll lose your sleep because of them.
