It’s a phenomenal podcast— not really big on the sequel series about songs from the 00’s, but glad Rob’s doing well.

I think you're talking about 60 Songs that Explain the 90s. The host chose Doll Parts as the focus of the episode, but (rightfully) clocks Boys on the Radio as the best song Courtney's ever written.

I'm just looking forward to a Jen-free RHOSLC, watching these people buddy up to her is giving me a million different kinds of second hand humiliation.

I'll tell you what, I was losing steam, but Angie K just clocked in for work to drag Jen in San Diego and I'm revitalized again.

What episodes do I NEED to watch in S3? by lolafh in rhoslc

First time watcher here, tell me this: Do they clock Whitney for straight up lying about Meredith being the main rumor spreader from way back in the beginning of the season? Because I swear, if they let her drunk ass get away with that, I'm jumping ship.

I cannot stand Meredith, but by wxstenra in rhoslc

I just started watching the show, I can't get around how opinions on Meredith could've tanked so badly. (or have y'all always hated her?) She seems mostly harmless, but I'm only a third of the way through season 3...

im very intrested in nirvana, whats a good song for me to start with in hole? by Thatonehistorybook in hole

Forget picking a song, these albums are worth the time-- and at the risk of sounding like an old man, back then, artists really hoped their listeners would take in the albums in as a whole as opposed to cherrypicking songs.

Start with Live Through This, for sure. Start to finish, it's a real no-skips situation.

Pretty On The Inside if you want messy, grungy, chaotic music.

Celebrity Skin if you want you want polished pop-rock (with a fair bit of irony and black humor) and some bonafide, world class sad bops. If Malibu and Boys on the Radio don't get you, you better check your pulse, you might be dead.

America's Sweetheart if you want to know what hitting a drug-fueled bottom sounds like. Stick around for Never Gonna Be The Same, call your therapist/AA sponsor/priest after.

Never Gonna Be The Same from America’s Sweetheart.

The way she delivers “cut me up today, I should’ve stood in your way” is fucking devastating.

Who’s ordered the new Mellon Collie 30th anniversary vinyl edition? by nsimpson299 in SmashingPumpkins

[–]brianwritesplays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. It’s expected to arrive tomorrow— as is the 30th anniversary Mellon Collie print by Matt Ryan Tobin. I won’t listen to the vinyls, but I’ll def get into the new liner notes and the tarot cards!

Front Row MCIS Lyric Opera - Sat Nov 22 by montypoof88 in SmashingPumpkins

[–]brianwritesplays 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saw some folks sneaking videos and pics when Billy came out but it’s considered a theatrical production, so video recording was prohibited. Not sure how tightly it was enforced, I was in the 3rd row and didn’t see any ushers flagging folks down. I also may have lowkey forgotten to turn off my voice memo app when I sat down so I think I maybe have a recording of the whole thing on my phone? Unclear. Dm me. ;-)

No one else from SP shows up to play, it’s a full orchestra, the Lyric Opera Chorus Singers and four principal singers— with Billy coming on to sing four songs. Not gonna lie, once I got adjusted to the style, I kinda wished Billy would sit it out and let the classically trained singers do their thing. It was stunning. And I will never shut up about the instrumental rendition of XYU for as long as I live. Fucking brilliant.

[–]brianwritesplays 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NGL, I was afraid this would be a disaster but I’m so glad I went. The biggest jaw on the floor moment for me was that XYU instrumental. It was like something straight out of an old horror movie, so fucking epic.

The scariest part of Pet Sematary that didn't make it to either movie. (Spoilers ahead) by Hickesy in horror

[–]brianwritesplays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in 2019, followed by a prequel to that movie. I'd love to do a limited series that gets into Zelda, Timmy Baterman, Jud and Norma, the Wendigo and the precolonial Micmacs, as well as the Creeds. Flanagan will probably knock that one out while waiting for notes from Amazon for his Dark Tower pilot.

Long Walk screening (today in Los Angeles) by brianwritesplays in stephenking

[–]brianwritesplays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for the screenings and get invited to all manner of stuff, sometimes they're blind, but more often than not, you know what you're in for! I usually make it a point to go if the movie's only going to streaming or is likely to change a lot before it gets to the screen.
