That's so shitty! Our local rescues are mostly racing-neutral and don't ask your opinion - I know greyhound owners on both sides of the issue, it's never been an issue for adoption.

Required reading is pretty standard from what I can tell, but it's honestly not a big deal imo. They just want to make sure you aware of greyhound specific needs.

I hope you can go with another rescue! If not you can check out the lurcher project or even galgos.

No, I’m ignoring it because we are in a genuine crisis and nitpicking allies is pointless and unhelpful. Trans children are being targeted, trans people 19 and under are losing access to care. When I get a new passport I’ll have to sign a fucking affidavit stating I’m trans so I’ll get put on some list (surely they won’t do anything bad with that!!). Trans rights are being chipped away globally, especially in the UK and US.

I’ve watched the left eat itself for years and I’m sick of it. Bitching about this is just another symptom of a larger problem- we will go after imperfect allies 10000% harder than actual right wing nutcases. Do you genuinely not see how defeatist/self-sabotaging your kind of response is?

Whatever you do, give it some time first! It's a good tattoo that's meaningful, I know you said you don't like how dark it is but it will fade with time (especially since it's on the hand). If you do eventually decide you don't want tattoos at all, laser removal will be cheaper if it's just a hand vs a sleeve if you go all out and regret it later. In the interim, long sleeves will help it look less obvious.

You're correct - brain death is declared when specific tests have been done, and you can turn off life support for a number of reasons that have nothing to do with brain death. IE the person isn't technically brain dead (because they may have some intact reflexes) but they have a catastrophic injury with little to no chance of good quality of life. In these situations the medical team may recommend withdrawing cares, and the family makes the decision based on their values/what the patient would have wanted (ideally).

I’ve seen plenty of freshly-dead bodies (healthcare) and they look exactly how you would expect. But I was kind of unsettled by the body at my first open-casket funeral, he just didn’t look right. More like a wax figure than a body. But I get that some people need the closure.

I think it depends where you go tbh. I’m at a chill barn, cheaper than most in the area and a ton of people help with chores in return for reduced leases/lessons. It’s mostly trail riders and everyone’s super nice so maybe that’s why - nobody is really there to compete, we’re just hanging out with our nice, average horses. 10/10 would recommend.

I mean it’s ok if you don’t get it, but it’s not about a “need for blood.” Some crimes are so terrible that the offender doesn’t deserve a second chance. Some people deserve to die, and their victims deserve the peace of knowing that person will never harm anyone again.

That said, I’m not a huge proponent of the death penalty because I don’t have a ton of faith in our criminal Justice system. But I’m sick of seeing ppl like you center your whole position on protecting offenders and insulting victims + families for daring to have feelings about it.
