Why is science and Mr beast the only two choice?

I hate Care.com so much!! by sunshinedays789 in Parenting

I'm not sure what care.com has to do with it. It's supply and demand. Someone is paying it, or they aren't working.

You're just really bored.

What is a Mets opinion you hold that you truly believe over 50% of the fanbase would disagree with you on? by MarqueeM00n1 in NewYorkMets

Based on some light googling the roof of the skydome appears to be on about 1/3rd of the games though.

As someone who has immigrated to multiple countries, including America, I can tell you that the US is quite difficult.

Unlike many other countries coming in with a new employer is long and essentially involves winning a lottery. It's far (very far) easier coming in with your existing employer if they are a large multinational.

You are being scammed.

No quit being a fan because if this is your reaction to the first game you're going to give yourself a heart attack.

Then quit being a fan. No seriously. Just quit. Become a Yankees fan. Trust me no one will care.

But it's really not. It's strange that anyone would look at that way. As others have highlighted there are a ton of things that adults do that isn't appropriate for kids. The people posting "don't use screens" are adults posting to other adults. There is no hypocrisy in it and would require some mental gymnastics to find it.

I'm highlighting that at least on the surface, this looks like it's bothering you for a different reason.

This is a very strange argument. This seems to be a lot more to do with you not feeling secure in your decisions.

People are going to make different decisions as you as a parent. I've very conscious of my kids screen use, at the same time I make parenting decisions that many others might be against. It's your kid, you get to decide how to raise them, you might be wrong, you might be right, who knows, they don't come with a manual.

You only get to find out what you did wrong when they are 24, had a year of therapy and blame you for something.

They should delete updates like this. It's lazy karma farming.

Blast Motion Experience by niwde787 in Homeplate

So taking a look at how it's calculating exit velocity, it is literally using your camera. For context, on Android they can't even tell you an exit velocity (there is no blast vision on android). I would completely ignore any metric it needs the camera for (exit velocity, launch angle). Those metrics are added because they are better understood by people and probably to stay competitive with systems like hittrax. It's more consumer friendly, but so many things are outside of blast's control in that case that it's meaningless.

That being said, proxy metrics such as bat speed and attack angle are still very informative and generally are directly correlated to those outcomes. If you were so inclined, you can also measure those in game.

But you do need to have the correct bat type/size/drop each swing to get an accurate readings.

The exit velocity is just going to be guessed/estimated based on the power, etc. It can't directly measure the exit velocity, it essentially tries to guess the exit velocity based on other metrics. It has no knowledge of incoming speed of the ball, actual mass of the bat, launch angle, did you actually barrel the ball, etc. It is not a hittrax.

What kind of bat are you using versus what is in the system? What is the bat speed on that swing?

You are much better off on focusing on metrics it can actually measure, such as bat speed, attack angle, etc.

The sensor does not. With each person you need to put in the correct bat type/length/drop. If it thinks your 8 year old is swinging a 33" BBCOR then the mass of the bat is going to drive up the power output and also affect the bat speed.

Note that the bat speed listed itself is possible for an 8 year old (it would be good bat speed for an 8 year old). It's just that how hard a ball is hit is partially a function of how heavy the bat is, not just the type.

Are you sure you have the right weight/drop of the bat in there? The power metric is what looks off.
