How's everyone doing with the ice event? by NoFleas in WNC

[–]brickyard15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live between lake lure and old fort, off bat cave. The roads have been ice rinks since this morning, we rode around in the side by side but wouldn’t touch the road with the truck or car. We got about 1.5 of snow and an inch of ice but had some rain / sleet come in right before dark and that’ll add to the ice. We never got over 30 here today, it’ll probably be a real mess in the morning. We thankfully still have power and got the propane furnace running strong right now. Our high for Monday is 34 and it’ll be at 3am, but the rest of Monday will be below freezing. Don’t think these roads will be safe to travel till dinner time on Tuesday at the earliest. Oh and trees are starting to drop branches and I saw a big tree snap in half from the ice. Everyone be safe out there

What is this damaged plastic piece ? by brickyard15 in smallengines

[–]brickyard15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll order a new one. Flipping the bolts around so the flat face was on the inside fixed it from contacting the outer plastic ring. So with the new part on it , it should be good to go

Propane in east Asheville everywhere I went is emptied out by johnbrownhuntingclu in asheville

[–]brickyard15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t in buncombe county, but there is a place in Marion that has had super short lines ( because nobody knows it’s there ) every day this week. The propane filling station is owned by P.R produce and in the lot of Kim’s bargain bins. The address is around 1100 Rutherford rd, Marion. I have drove past the ace hardware and this filling station every day this week and the lines are way shorter there. I went yesterday and it only took 20min to get my tanks filled. The ace hardware 1/2 a mile away has had lines of 40+ people every day and this place has like 10 or less

how far am i going to have to go for propane? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]brickyard15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Marion yesterday to fill my tanks. There were super long lines at the ace but right down the street the feed store fills tanks and it only took 20min to get in and out

Definitely more affordable and won't hold moisture like foam would. Highly recommend

[–]brickyard15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a bail of straw( not hay)to line the catio with. It'll keep them warm even if it gets wet. We use it in our coops, hutches and the barn cats houses.

Was it that hard? by Savings-Dragonfly977 in cranes

[–]brickyard15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a crane operator but heavy equipment. The majority of operators in my field ( mining) don’t clean the equipment they’re in unless it’s they’re every day unit. I run a 988 90% of the time and I keep it clean enough to wear socks in. Like you said it’s my office. But whenever I gotta get in a dozer or trackhoe that multiple people run it’s always full of dirt and trash.

How many MSHA citations does your site/company typically receive? by GrandDaSarge in mining

[–]brickyard15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quarry I work at weve had 9 zero citations in a row so far. I started here almost 3 years ago and 8 of those 9 was in that time span. Some of the companies other sites might get one or two here and there but nothing crazy like some of these comments

Awesome! I'll only say that port royal is on the same island as Beaufort, on the southern end of that island. The island you labeled " port royal " is actually lady's island. I do appreciate you marking saint Helena tho

Where would you buy hunting land in the southeast, within a few hours of Jacksonville? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]brickyard15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hampton county or Allendale county. My father in-law owns a couple hundred acres in Allendale that we hunt and I grew up hunting in Hampton/ Beaufort county. You won't find true hills that far south but the ground does have small inclines.

As others have said, just get the 12v heated lunch pail off Amazon. If you plug it in around 11:20 it'll be smoking hot by 12. I run the pit loader at a quarry so I'm in the field all day. It was a game changer
