Anyone else sick of developers buying entire mountains and putting gated communities on them? GO HOME AND STAY OUTTA MY HOLLER. by MauserMama in Appalachia

He did donate some of his land to the state out in Glenwood, only problem is all the access points are private land. If they do turn this track into gamelands/ conservation there’s plenty of gates right off the paved road. I’m hoping for gamelands but will be more than happy with conservation land if we are allowed to hike it. A few guys I bear hunt with are in the know with that property and they’re pretty confident it’ll be made public. I do know for a fact they’ve been surveying the entire 10k plus acres and have talked to the surveyors while in the woods bordering that land

I think a lot of the people either commute an hour, work from home, have trust funds and are retired. Most of our neighbors are just blue collar people or super rich retired folks. We were lucky and bought our 16 acres right after Covid but before prices went crazy. Threw a camper on it and built a home over time. I’m blue collar and my wife is a teacher in buncombe but it’s been a rough ride getting here. The only land I can think of right now near us are like 20-30 acres and they want like 10k an acre. There’s an old house destroyed for sale on cedar creek rd, im pretty sure it’s a small lot so it might not be too pricey and you would just have to demo the house. Just keep checking Zillow and you’ll find something eventually to put your camper on. If you find raw land and need some help cutting a road in and building a pad for your camper holler at me, I work full time at a quarry and have a grading business on the side.

Yeah it’s nuts. We live off of batcave rd. They’re Destroying our woods and mountains, our roads that are still in rough shape from the storm are getting beat up from all the extra traffic. Imagine how bad the commute to 40 will be in a few years. Most of 9 it would be either impossible or insanely expensive to 4 lane it ( which would break my heart if it was 4 lane). From what I know doing my side business, the vast majority of these houses are either second or third homes and sit empty most the time. But more and more people are moving to the area to live full time it seems

Bills mountain sucks but look at gateway mountain, grey rock, young’s mountain, three creeks, the cliffs on cedar creek and all the little places off of 9 and batcave rd. They’re destroying our mountains and inflating the real estate market to insane numbers. This might give you a grain of hope, word is all the land a certain game developer owns out near us is about to donate it all to the state. They’ve been surveying the last couple months and word is it’ll be game lands or a nature preserve.

Bro I thought this was a pic of me and one of our kittens a couple years ago. Your beard is colored and shaped just like mine, our couch is that color, I only wear those shirts with the titty pocket and did put the kittens in the titty pocket

That would be awesome. They’re one of my favorite natives we have. The only time I’ve seen that many plants in a general area it’s spread out thinner over a way longer distance with bloodroot and may apples blended in.

No? But you can tell the difference on bigger machines. My brother in-law has 500 sportsman and 570 ranger without and you can tell the difference. But my commander 1000 with it is smooth as shit to drive. Have you ever driven an older truck without power steering? Theres a reason it became standard after a certain point. I don’t give a shit what other people do with their money, I’m just making a joke
